It was a perfectly beautiful sunny day and Frank and I were about to go out fishing. We looked to our right from where we stood on the dock and wondered if the gray skies were just passing through or if those clouds were building up. 
A few minutes later we had our answer. We had enough time to empty the boat of everything which wasn't waterproof and head into the cottage to wait it out.
This photo wasn't in taken in black and white but the weather seemed to turn everything into monochrome. The storm lasted only a few minutes and the sun shone shortly afterward. No damage done. This was not the worst storm we had while up at the cottage. I'll write about that one another time.

amazing how the lack of light can make a photo lose its color.
The power of nature...I remember a quote I heard once, I guess I better say pharphrase...'one moment the weather is softly nursing you and the next moment it may try to kill you.' I think this is especially true if you're in a boat.

Wow, that really does look monochrome! I'm glad you weren't caught out in the boat far from shore. That storm does look like a doozie!
I don't know whether it was intentional or not, but I liked that you caught the finger pointing at the clouds in your first picture. I could almost hear the dialogue about whether it was safe to proceed with the fishing trip or whether it would be wise to wait. The storm clouds in the second picture were awesome.
I like a good storm but not when I'm ON the water. Inside by a fireplace is better.

I remember all last winter, waiting, and waiting for spring to get here. I say, while the weather favors you? Enjoy the outdoors :-) There will be plenty of time to catch up on blogs, soon, when the snow falls again.
