The Warm Breath of Spring

pussywillows
Pussywillows,

cattails
cat-tails,

tulips
soft winds and roses

water
Rainbows in the woodland, water to my knees

pod
Shivering, quivering, the warm breath of spring

Pussywillows, cat-tails, soft winds and roses.

Lyrics by Gordon Lightfoot. Images by Mother Nature.

My blog-reading and commenting is still sporadic at best these days. I hope to catch up and get back to regular visits soon.

Lovely shots!
Our pussy willow has already sprouted, bloomed, and passed. Of course, right when the catkins were ripe it rained like hell... oh, weather.
; )

OK, so that last picture is a milkweed pod? I have never seen one before. How beautiful! God makes some cool things. :-)

Beautiful images of spring! You are such a talented photographer. Those cat-tails need a redwing blackbird perched on them.

Early spring up your way I see, I love the milkweed. I actually 'stole' some seeds on a recent hike, but forgot where I put them. I will probably find them in a coat pocket this winter.

Oh! I love these pictures, as always, but that last one is so... perfectly expressing the emergence of spring. Thank you.

Lovely images, as usual! Can such loveliness ever be usual? I am particularly smitten with the last one's gorgeously contrasting textures of rough and soft. And thanks for the reminder of that great old Gord tune! Hadn't thought of it in years.

My dear Hilary, what a beautiful post and set of photographs to return to...
Our spring has taken a giant leap forward and April almost became May, after record breaking heat and sun wave of the last 14 days. Here everything is already green and it feels like we are a month ahead.
Hope all is well at your end, it is good to be back;) Thank you for all your love and care, means a lot..
xoxo

That pussywillow shot is stunning. Just in case Sully doesn't stop by, I'll say it for him: "You should publish your photos. People would pay to see them."

Cricket said...

I think I may have told you before my Nana was fond of milkweed and pussy willows? Also bittersweet... often to be found in her floral arrangements, which, later in life, were made to explicit instruction by me.

Yep, spring is springing here too. And, while you've provided your own background music, perhaps you might also listen to Andy Summers & Robert Fripp playing Girl On A Swing. I think there's something there, too.

Anvilcloud said...

Are you sure the roses aren't tulips? Just asking.

The last shot looks like it might have been an extra in either Invasion of the Body Snatchers or Day of the Triffids ..

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I can't express how much I appreciate your visits and comments. I'm still kind of off-schedule when it comes to my blog visits and individual responses to your comments. Thank you for understanding.

Lady Fi, I will include that post as your recommendation in Wednesday's POTW. Thank you.

AC, yes.. they're tulips. I'm pleading poetic license.

Thanks for that song, Cricket.

And welcome to my new visitors. I'll pop by your blogs shortly.
