Below are some miscellaneous images taken up at the cottage this past summer. If I haven't visited your blog recently, it most likely means that we're still up there for a few days. I'll return visits and respond to comments sometime after I return. Until then I hope you enjoy this scheduled post.
Early morning fog sure changes the appearance of the lake. It adds an air of mystery when you can scarcely see across the water. But the sun was quick to burn it off and we soon started our day.
There's a lodge a few miles down and across the lake, where we get gasoline for the boat. On this day we motored over and docked the boat but had a bit of a wait for the store to open. We sat by their pond and admired the plant life until we were ready to be on our way. I love the colours in this leaf.
This rusty wheelbarrow worked its magic for transporting gathered firewood. September nights are perfect for campfires.
Early evening sunlight pours through the front door on the other side of the boathouse, and escapes through the side door, illuminating a couple of colourful kayaks in its path.
The day is almost done. A neighbour's model lighthouse may not have a true light of its own, but the golden sunset helps make up for that, don't you think?
More photos to come in a few days.

Another wonderful set of images that substitute as my mini vacation... thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the POTW mention too!
By george, Hilary, you just blow me away with your photography. Just wondering: if I used your camera, would my photos be as scrumptious?
Specially liked your 'boat on the lake' photo and the colourful leaf. - Dave

What an artistic eye you have. Wonderful photos!
I love your beautiful and serene cottage photos! It looks like you have had a wonderful summer :)
The foggy lake shot is awesome. The lighting on the model lighthouse shot is stellar too. You have an excellent eye for light and how it fills a frame.
Love the boat and the reflection on the lake and also looking through the chink in the door at the canoes.

Lovely! Almost makes me want to spend time at a lake, then I remember they are smelly and buggy.
Love that lighthouse shot...cool!
Beautiful set of photos, I especially love the pond plant.
Lovely pictures, Hilary. No wonder you cannot wait to visit your hidaway.
Tranquil.
I can tell how much you love your lake. Ours is much different. Different than the idea of a real lake that I grew up with in Minnesota. But, it is what is offered were we live and I've learned to love it as well. Seems neighbors are far apart and have much more space on your lake. Beautiful. (I just ignore all those around me and pretend they aren't there.) Enjoy your days. How fortunate for the area that you discover its beauty.
what an amazing eye you have, even such mundane things as a door to the boathouse slightly ajar or a wheelbarrow wheel you turn into art.
These are superb ... in a way its good you are away I have been cat dipping/vet visiting and way behind on blog visits, its a good thing I post ahead or I'd really be up the creek
What's the most complimentary thing I can say concerning your photos? I think it's this: I am no longer amazed when I come here. I expect magnificence. And I am never disappointed.
Both beautiful and vaguely familiar to this MN woman.

your photos make it real for all the rest of us! Thanks :)
Absolutely gorgeous. My favourites would have to be the first shot of the boat on the still lake in the fog and the sunbeam setting the brilliant orange kayaks aflame.
Always a treat! I wish I could rent that place for a week....
I can smell September!
