"And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush. And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush"
The above lyrics are from the song Moondance by Van Morrison. It ran through my head the other night as I walked around the lake, full moon up above. The sky was cloudy, but there were clear patches and every so often the moon would come into focus. Below are a few photos taken around the nearby park paths and pond.
The fresh-fallen snow helped to reflect the light. This light source is a nearby lamp post. I just like this tree and tend to photograph it fairly often.
Moon and clouds worked together to tease and delight.
High above the pond, the moon made a brief appearance before disappearing to await the approaching blue sky.
As the wispy clouds threaded their way across the sky, the misty moon peeked through the branches of the trees below.
A lovely golden orb balanced on delicate tree fingers.
There were times I felt that I could reach out and touch it.
Along the tree-lined path, I was interested in capturing the moon's light, but discovered that lights from the homes across the pond were perfectly lined up to appear at the left of each tree.
As my walk neared to a finish, I paused to watch the geese swimming in the amber light of the lamp post.
It was a marvelous night for a moondance.
This post was a repeat from January, 2009.

Moondance, indeed. Always happy to know another who appreciates that beauty.
Very gorgeous. Nice work.
Fourth photo is stunning Hilary! You really captured the 'night's magic'.
Great photos, thanks for taking us alone on your walk. Moondance is my favorite VanMorrison song. I hope that by the next full moon there will be enough snow to ski.
Very nice captures and an enjoyable walk with you.I was just out and the quiet is nice, no cars, not even a dog barking.
Thanks for taking us along on your walk.
You can't go wrong with Van Morrison.
Incredible photos... they exude the embrace of a winter's peaceful night .
Hope you are enjoying the gifts of the season, Hilary.
All the best to you now and in the coming new year.
love to you,
deb

I love it! The photos are just beautiful.
Van Morrison. What a fabulous music maker. It indeed was a fabulous night for a moon dance.

Magical night, and what a lovely walk. The moon is huge. It looks so peaceful there.
Some beautiful photos there. Even with the snow covered branches you capture a warmth in your photos.
Isn't it lovely, how bright a snow-covered evening can be?
Pearl
WOW. The 3rd and 7th picture look like paintings. I would hang those on my wall. Gorgeous!!!
I love the pictures of the ducks, in front of the snow. Lovely!
oh how you capture light, amazing and wondrous
I especially love the shots where there are man made moons on the ground, they appear to be looking up to the moon and saying thanks for the inspiration
so beautiful Hillary!
One of my favorite songs. I would love to walk with you. But oh, wait. I just did. xo
Oh Hilary, I love those shots of the moon through the trees. I would have indeed done a moon dance!

lovely as always Hilary.
I love the tree fingers holding the moon; all are "Fantabulous".
Beautiful and intrigues the imagination, Hilary. You really have an eye for these wonderful opportunities with the camera, and that is a gift! :)
I'm so glad you reposted this, Hilary, because I hadn't seen it before. Amazing photos in the dusky light. My favorite was the one of the pond, with the moon above and the geese in the foreground. Just beautiful. You do good work, girl.
It was indeed a marvellous night. Thanks for bringing us along to share the dance. :)
Mesmerizing. A beautiful night.
You have captured beautiful views in an enchanted surrounding. So much magic in these photos. Thank you for sharing.
I know you touched my heart.
The moon has been keeping me awake every night. I fall asleep and then a few hours later I am wide awake staring out the windows! That third photo is so mystical.
You captured some great mood and mystery under that beguiling moon.
Van Morrison caps off your beautiful post very nicely.
Now I have that song running through my head. :)
I've been amazed at how bright the moon is with a bit of snow on the ground.

So beautiful Hilary : ) I love that we are far, far apart, but we saw the same moon. Special! Hope your Christmas was wonderful!
Excellent pictures here.
Photography in the noght or in dim light is not easy to get good in my experience
Great pictures! Happy New Year!

Hope you had a magic holiday too.
Lovely walk around the pond... looks like the moon enjoyed playing hide 'n seek with you!
I thought I saw geese on the riverbank (or pondbank) in the third picture! Ha - and then they were swimming under the amber light! What a lovely walk you had. I love those "witchy" (o.k. you said misty) moon pics. There is something fascinating about the light of a full moon.
Thanks for taking us with you.
Nice evening photos Hilary. That special tree of yours really looks special too - Dave
A magical Moondance. This is gorgeous Hilary. I have missed visiting your post but life has been a bit crazy. So glad to be back in the routine. Thanks for continuing to visit me.
Stunning pictures.
Moondance sounds divine! I was regretting that my family was hit with the flu at the same time we had snow on the ground and a full moon lighting everything up-- I wanted to take pictures! I'm glad you did it so that I can enjoy yours. My absolute favourite is the moon over the pond. Love these night shots. Thank you :-)
So lovely and dreamy. I can almost hear the quiet.

Lovely.
Thanks, Sandra. :)
Stunning night time photography... There is something magical indeed about a snowy scenery at night, some sort of ethereal enchantment.
Perhaps it is the light reflecting of the white blanket or the moon in the cloudy sky, but your images keep me definitely spellbound...
xoxo
Thank you so much, Z. You much too kind but I so appreciate it. :)
Beautiful tree imagery. I have a strange relationship with trees. I look at them like wise, old friends. Sometimes sitting by a tree you can find answers...They're sort of like nature's cathedrals.
I have enjoyed perusing your blog.
:-)
