As I had anticipated, this week has been a busy one, spent enjoying my son's last time off until late in August, and possibly even as late as October. We had a very interesting 24 hour period which I'd like to write about and post photos but I anticipate this upcoming week to be a busy one as well. I think I'll try to schedule a couple short blog posts, and get back to my regular blogging habits after that. I also hope to get out to visit your blogs more than I have. Thanks for your patience. while I enjoy my family time.
For now, I'll leave you with these images of Benny, and his first encounter with an oscillating water sprinkler. This is the dog who has to eat every shovelful of snow, chase down every maple seed as it does its whirly spin out of the trees and eat every lake wave which makes contact with the shore at Frank's family cottage. I am SO getting a pulsating or rotary sprinkler for him next!
Please remember to click on each photo to enlarge.

Love the pictures of Benny and the clip was very entertaining. Animals, and of course our pets, are a constant source of joy and amusement. Sometimes their excitement and curiosity in the mundane is a great source of inspiration for us to enjoy and value the simple pleasures in life.;)
I am wishing you a wonderful time off with your family; please enjoy the precious moments you have together.

Benny's enjoyment of life never fails to put a smile on my day.
Your dog's crazy.
Oh, Hilary - please, please, please get an oscillating sprinkler.... I would love to see what Benny does with that! :)
Great video. Glad you are having a busy time with your family. We'll wait (drums fingers on desk) and hope for some great photos!
Such a pity that dog has no fun ;)
Enjoy your family time--it is so precious.
Hahaha! He is just like a little kid. :)
I can almost remember feeling that way...almost.
Oh I love your Benny posts! My Bub differs here though-- any sign of water and he hightails it in the opposite direction! He won't even come more than his body-length into the bathroom because that's where the scary water comes from, haha. A sprinkler like that would scar him for life!
BENNY! You know I love me some BENNY!
The photos are wonderful but the video is priceless - and the birds are singing their praise for his interpretive dance.
Always enjoy the Benny picture essays. I can only imagine how he'd react to those rain-bird sprinklers - the ones that rotate with the metal flag that breaks the stream with a clacking noise as the sprinkler rotates? Hard to describe... but I can see the whole thing in my mind and it's hysterical. Yes, that's how I amuse myself on Friday mornings.
It's a true joy to see Benny in action, if only in photos! What a dog! Thanks for the smiles.
I love Benny and his water dance!
Have a wonderful time with your family, Hilary. We will be here waiting patiently when you return. :)
Did he catch the water? Did he?Did he?
I have a cat do that with a dripping tap. Catches the water with his paw and when he puts his head in the way, can't understand where the water has gone... until he feels wet on his head!
Enjoy your time with your son.
BENNNNNNNY!
Oh, my gosh Hilary! This is adorable. Love the little movie, too.
Have a wonderful time with your family.
I love it!! My dog's favorite toy has always been the hose, too. Sometimes he just drags it around the backyard with his teeth. Crazy dogs!
Benny always makes me laugh out loud. We're moving in August and I'll be able to get a dog. Hope he's half as entertaining and clever as Benny!
I can just imagine Benny and a rotating sprinkler. I'd love to see his spin on that. Enjoy your family. We're not going anywhere.
Lord do I love that dog!
You need a little flip camera.....I have one, and it is great for stuff like this.....I am sure a video would have had us all rolling on the floor.
Great pictures. He is a marvelous subject, that Benny.
hahahaha, he sure knows how to have fun, doesn't he?
What an energetic little dog. He really knows how to have fun. We should all be like that... enjoying the simple things in life and having a great time doing it.
That is one delightful little dog! I love his facial expressions. Clever title!
Waiting on the next post!
ha! He seems to be oscillating like the sprinkler! What a fun dog.
• Thanks so very kindly, Protege. I totally agree about how entertaining our critters can be. Thanks always for stopping by, my friend. :)
• I'm so glad for that, Leah. He's a smile-evoker for sure. Thanks for the visit. :)
• Frank, so is his Dad. :)
• Baggie it would be worth the entertainment value, wouldn't it? ;) I should have some decent photos coming up in about a week (after a couple of other posts). I guarantee heart-melting. ;) Thanks always for stopping by. :)
• Thanks kindly, DS. Yes, it's a real pity that Benny is so depressed. ;) Thanks for the visit. :)
• Too true, Kat. He's like a perpetual toddler. Thanks for dropping by. :)
• Tabor, you were an ADD child? ;) Thanks for stopping by. :)
• Scarlethue, your Bub sounds hilarious! I wonder why he's so afraid of water. More often than not, dogs take to it quite naturally. Just not as maniacally as Benny does. Thanks for the visit. :)
• Dianne, you have such a wonderful way with words. While I was setting this post up, I was thinking that it would probably put a smile on your face. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
• Dawno, that's exactly the kind of sprinkler I had in mind, and I'm very tempted to get one just to see. What I'll do for a blog post, eh? ;) Thanks so much for stopping by. It's always a pleasure to see you out here in the blogosphere. :)
• Thank you for the kind words, Pat. I'm glad Benny amuses you. I sure can't keep all his comical ways to myself. Thanks for the visit. :)
• Thanks kindly, KC. I like that you dubbed that his water dance.. too funny. Thanks always for stopping by. :)
• Cath, he always catches the water. Unfortunately, there's always a lot more water to catch. One of my old felines used to do that with the dripping faucet too. She was spoiled. She'd only drink water from there. Thanks so much for dropping by. :)
• GARRRRRRRRRRRRY! ;)
• Thanks very much, CG. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
• Heather, they are indeed crazy critters.. loaded with joy and amusement. Thanks for the visit. :)
• Steph, I'm glad you always get a laugh out of Benny and I'm sure your new canine will give you endless amusement as well. Hopefully we'll benefit from that too via your blog posts. Thanks for stopping by. :)
• Ha, Pouty. Good line "his spin on that!" Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated. :)
• MPM I'm glad I could oblige you with a Benny post. Now that winter's over, I'm sure there'll be more. Thanks for the visit. :)
• Thanks, Hilary. I'm wondering if for some reason the video didn't load for you. The last image is a video of Benny attacking the water jets. Thanks for the kind words. He is indeed a neat dog. :)
• Lime, he knows how to have more fun than any dog I know. He's cat-like in that way. Thanks for dropping by. :)
• You're so right, Shammie. We can learn a lot from our pets. Thanks for the visit. :)
• Thanks very much MT. I'm glad you enjoyed the post and the title. ;) Thanks for stopping by. :)
• WIAW, he oscillates in his sleep. That dog is the living definition of perpetual motion. Thanks for the visit. :)
Watching Benny makes me feel so lethargic...he must expend enough energy for three dogs or something like that...
I'm glad to hear you're having fun and spending time with your boys. Hope the rest of everything is good :)
Ah Benny, the clown! And the Eddie (Moose) look alike lol...I love him...let him come visit me, please?
Sandi
Benny & the Water Jets. Loved it.
Benny is so cute, and I can see he keeps you entertained. Lucy loves water, too. And while at the ocean last week, ran straight for a great big wave. Of course it caught her, rolled her over a few times and started to drag her out to sea. She used her strength and swam out, but immediately ran after the next wave, careful not to get caught, though.
Enjoy your family. It always needs to come first.
What a great series. He's having fun. I am glad you had time with your son, and I hope all goes well for him.
Benny's got a good life!
Oh, what antics! Benny sure knows how to enjoy the pure pleasure of life, doesn't he? These photo's are sheer joy - I'll bet you could hardly focus for laughing?
I sure wish I could amuse myself that easily!
Love Benny and the Jets.
Such an adorable dog you have there.
Those are great photos of Benny and the video is wonderful. Enjoy your family time - we'll still be here.
Love the pics and the video, Hilary! Benny and Bonzi, my shepherd would have quite the time together. Bonzi never misses a shovelful of snow. He doesn't go after the sprinkler in my flower bed because he knows he would hear Redbush's "Out!" voice behind him. I always get a kick out of pictures and videos of
Benny.
Wonderful images and a great post title, Hilary!
* Thanks, Althea. All is good! And yes, Benny is like a whole pack of dogs rolled into one. Thanks for stopping by, Mni! ;)
* Sandi, you're on! I hope you continue to feel better daily. Stay well, and thanks for the visit. :)
* Thanks, Angie. :)
* Thanks so much, L of L. It sounds like your Lucy is quite the character too. What is it with dogs and moving water? Thanks for dropping by. :)
* Thanks so much for the kind words, Sandy. And thanks always for stopping by. :)
* Cedar, he does indeed. Lucky dog! Thanks for the visit. :)
* You're right about that, Shrinky. He is indeed a lover of life and usually has me laughing when photographing him. Thanks so much for stopping by. :)
* Thanks, Crabby. I'm glad you enjoyed it. If only we could all take such joy from everyday things, eh? Thanks for the visit. :)
* Thanks very much, Tsannie. Too bad he knows it too. ;)
* Thanks very kindly, Reb. I'm glad you enjoyed them. Much appreciated. :)
* Thanks so much, Redbush. Bonzi sounds like quite the character too. I'm going to have to learn your "Out" voice though. Thanks for the visit. :)
* Thanks very kindly, David. I figured you'd appreciate the title. ;)
that is so adorable! I love watching puppies play with water. Great clip too!
Ha! Awesome.
This is too cute! He never needs to drink from his water dish, does he?
what a cutie! congrats on your POTD mention!
Congrats on POTD nomination. Benny is such a great dawg.
Priceless!!!!! I love Jack Russells!!!! And your photos are terrific! Love it! Congrats on POTD!
* Thanks kindly, Bubblewench. I'm glad you enjoyed the post. :)
* Thanks, Tink. :)
* Thanks, Quilly. He doesn't need to in any season. In winter he's a snow-eater. ;)
* Welcome, Kirti and thanks for the kind words. :)
* Thanks, Pouty. We'll probably keep him. ;)
* Welcome and thanks very much for the kind words, S&S. Very much appreciated. :)
Your dog is hilarious! Of course you know that though.
I didn't realize you were from Ontario. I've seen you all around and never clued in.
I was born in Guelph and then moved to Sudbury later. Now I live in Alberta on the dry prairies and I often think longingly of the wonderful lakes and water in Ontario.
Great job! Congrats on the Post of the Day Award!
• Aims, I'm glad you enjoyed Benny. He is indeed a goof. You sure do get around the country. I'm glad that one of your cyber-stops along the way was here at my blog. Thanks for the visit. :)
• Thanks kindly, Cheffie. Much appreciated. :)
