My best sighting this year was 52 in a field. When I see the tom's fanning I almost run off the road. There is a very good populace around me, I see them next to the expressways.Ben Franklin wanted them to be the national bird over the eagle here in the US.
you always find great bloggers!

I'm a fan of good tales. Pictorial and verbal.
Oh yes, I'm a fan. Beautiful plumage, brilliant photograph. I think that you should be in "POSTS OF THE WEEK".

gosh, how did you get turkey photos, wow!!!! I notice, speaking of fans, that today you have 600 readers following you :)
Love turkeys! Except the one who bites our mailman and our electric meter reader...he is a menace. And, wow! Thank you! What a surprise! Such great company I'm in....
what a great group of blogs ... and turkey sausage rocks my breakfast daily
I'm alternating between admiring your beautiful turkey photos and being jealous of them. :)
Great photos Hilary.
I find it strange to see turkeys in the country now. Our neighbour in South Burlington had one in their backyard!
I also see hawks, and turkey vultures and we are in suburbia ... so strange.
Turkey.... I'm BIG Fan around Thanksgiving ;-)
Great finds this week, you always find such great blogs!
Well, although I am a FAN of yours, I don't have quite the display of this guy. And thanks for the POTWs, I always enjoy learning about new blogs. :-)
Thanks for the love, Hilary. You know I return it to you via a virtual hug!
We have more and more wild turkey sightings around the Boston area every week. I've had to slam on the brakes a couple of times while watching one cross the street. They really aren't the smartest birds :-)
thanks, hilary, once again for choosing these. and lovely turkey feathers!
Wow! Those pictures are amazing! How did you manage to get so close???
WOW! What a close-up! And, yes, I guess I'm a fan...especially when flying! ;-)
I am a Fan! I think they are lovely birds!
Wild turkeys are beautiful and rather smart. Domesticated -- not so much. That one is a good looker.
big grins...thank you ma'am...and congrats to everyone! really cool textures in the turkey tail hilary!
they do have beautiful feathers.
A fine play on words!
wow! i cannot believe the detail you captured on such skittish birds!
Great pictures, the wild turkey is a beautiful bird. Thanks for the weekly picks.
I am a fan of your wonderful photos. Wow the colors are so great in the feathers.
Splendid turkey-shots! The other day there were 2 turkeys and a deer leaving our driveway when we came home. As quick as I was with my camera, it wasn't quick enough. So I'll just enjoy these instead.
thanks for the shout out, hillary!
Yay for Barbara! I must check out Suldog's blog post. The title has me very curious. LOL
I've never seen a turkey up close before - now I know why we always used pine cones for their bodies in our elementary school Thanksgiving art projects! Beautiful photos! And thank you so much for the POTW!! I'm very honored!!
We've had so many followin' the cattle in the winters (the pick the grain' outta the cow patties...I know TMI...ewwwww) that the Conservation Agents come net 'em and take 'em to the National Forrest 'round here.
You always pick the best blogs sweetie.
Now I gotta catch up on some good readin'!!! :O)
I am a fan! Love those turkeys. Thanks for the links!
Dare I say I'm a fan-a-tic of your images and clever use of words. :)
A great lead-in today, Hilary, with unexpected photos and great new bloggers to check out! :)
Great job on those turkey feathers. Love the color and detail.
Wow, Hilary, what kind of lens are you using? The detail is just stunning!
And thank you, my dear, for the lovely honor! I never imagined myself in the same column as Brian! W00t!!!
Yes, I am a fan - of your work.
That first shot is a great abstract, Hilary. Beautiful tones, too.
I upload images every day on a site called 72dpi.com and still yearn to find the time to return to blogging!
LOL ... I'm with Daryl, big fan of turkey bacon every morning! I'm honored to be part of your POTW.
I'm always a fan of your photographs -- and that Tom has some fantastic plumage!
I'm way behind in my blog reading, but I hope to swing by each of this week's POTW winners.

On another note, that dandelion is absolutely fantastically beautiful!
