Strippers, Trapeze Artists and Posts of the Week

We saw a stripper performing in the park the other day...

bark stripper She was awfully busy doing her act when we came upon her. There was a little bit of bumping (of branches) and grinding (of teeth) and a whole lot of stripping going on. Stripping the tree of its protective bark in order to build or supplement a nest, that is.

Hang in there This reminds me that I once dated a trapeze artist... but he dropped me. ;)

And now, without further delay, here are the Posts of the Week. The icon below is yours for the taking if if your blog post is named as a POTW.

I'm sure you're light as a feather, so how could he drop you?

Hilary, I started reading in my Google Reader, which is never a good idea... but I *KNEW* that you must have a funny photo or two to go along with your words.
That second photo is incredible!
I'll try to remember your joke, although I am truly terrible at delivering punch lines.
Back tomorrow to visit the POTW honorees!

The squirrels are funny, ha ha.

I have a lot of squirrels around my house. I feed them peanuts over the winter. They strip the bark off our honeysuckle tree. Never knew why they did it until now. You have great photos.

Our dogs sometimes strip the bark off of small trees. No nest building going on... they are just weird. LOL

I also laughed out loud at the trapeze artist joke. Your squirrel is busy getting ready to make more just like him! Thanks for the POTWs, I am glad to find I read many of them already. :-)

These might be two of my favorite shots of yours, ever.

I've finally realized that you have an exceptional affinity with nature, Hilary. It's like the minute you step outside with your camera, Mother Nature nudges her children to cooperate with you. And cooperate they do.

(not sure what happened, but murr's link didn't work any more...) :(

You're such a goofball, but I love you for it!

Hi Hilary,

I'd like to nominate 2 blogs for next week.

http://www.aartipaarti.com/2012/04/24/youve-got-beautiful-music-here/

And http://teri-gonewalkabout2.blogspot.com/2012/04/guest-blogger-himself-home-is-where.html

The one on my blog is actually a guest post from my hubby. I thought it was pretty good.

I'm groaning in appreciation. Reading the blogs after work.

I love that hanging squirrel. You do get some amazing shots. I've never seen one nest building. I do see them hanging upside down on the sides of trees when it is raining.

messymimi said...

The first thing i thought of when you said "stripper" was a 2-year-old deciding to be a nudist for a while, as they often do.

Wonderful pics!

Jayne said...

Ha! That's so funny. :)
Oh, I've got to go see Ellen. Been too long.
Thanks for these, Hilary!

Just goes to show you should never date a swinger.

lime said...

pity you couldn't embed a music player to play that classic burlesque strip-tease music. hehehehe and the quote about dating a trapeze artist...fantastic. i guess he was a real swinger.

thanks so very much for the support too. you're a dear, hilary and so are the folks who have been kind enough to come over.

Murr Brewster said...

Aw, Kerry stole my swinger joke! That's what I get for going off the grid for a day. Thanks for the plug! I think you should name your squirrel Bob. Short for Plumb-Bob.

Hilary, love your clever description. You pulled me in before I even clicked on your blog. :) smart and funny.

There should be a drum roll after that last punchline. Love your way with words and photos. Thanks for sending us off to the POTW!

So glad Lime's post is a POTW.
