Below are a few photos which steer away from my usual flowers, birds, outdoorsy themes. I hope you enjoy them.
One day in June, Frank and I went to do a little fishing at a nearby town. This is their little General store which was established in 1857. It's been through some changes through the years, I'm sure. How long do you figure it will be until that phone booth is obsolete?
We took the slow route home - following behind a school bus.
Snapped on the move, from the front passenger seat, through the left rear window, across the highway. Isn't that a beautiful heap of mess behind the horse?
My neighbour coaches kidlet soccer. On this day in May, she was pumping up balls in preparation for an upcoming practice.
Another neighbour of mine - Princess Galoshes (aka Lily).
I liked the pattern that the sun and Venetian blinds made on our piano. I can't play but I inherited it from my mother who did. It's been on this earth a fair bit longer than I have. I'm happy that my son, Alex is so musically inclined. It's a lovely instrument and I know that he will continue to appreciate it after I'm long gone.
This is Girl's Night Out - grapefruit, pineapple and lemonade infused with white wine. It's my new summer beverage. Can I pour one for you?
Perhaps a beer is more to your taste?
Can I offer you something to eat? Among other goodies, we have fresh, buttery Brussels sprouts flavoured with garlic, wine, freshly ground pepper and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
You might enjoy this selection of cheese.
If you don't mind, I'm sure Skittles wouldn't refuse a nibble of that cheddar.
And whatever he turns his nose up at, I'm sure Benny will be happy to gobble. Just don't let him jump up on you - he's been playing with the hose, again.
That's it for today. I hope you enjoyed the loose ends photos. I should have something new for you very soon.
Oh and one more thing.. today is five years since I've begun blogging. Who knew that sending a few words and photos out into the WWW could be so much fun? There are some incredibly wonderful people out there on the reading and viewing end of thing. I mean all of YOU, of course, and I thank you for a very enjoyable five years.

Happy 5th Blogiversary, and may you have many more years of sharing your treasures with the rest of us. You make the world a better place with your kind words and beautiful photographs.
Lots of great photographs, but my favorite is the one of Princess Galoshes.
I like the atmosphere in the shot of the school bus with kids. The piano so precious. Great shots again.
Have a great week ahead Hilary! :)
Fabulous shots, as always.
And FIVE years / wow! Many congratulations. I wish you many more wonderful years of blogging.
Dear Hilary, beautiful loose ends, yet together in perfect harmony. Love your new drink, mmmmm.;)
And that reflection on the piano is stunning, that would have been one of these good images for us to guess.;)
Congratulations on your anniversary, I just posted about one of my own.;)
I would never believe you have been blogging only 5 years, it is only a yer longer than me - you seem such a very experienced blogger my dear friend.;) Looking forward to many years more.;)
Have a great week ahead,
xoxo
Fabulous photos! Love the soccer balls image!!
Hugs
SueAnn
Did you happen to count the black and white soccer balls? Looks like onze to me! Perhaps the lone white ball has douze hidden on it somewhere.
Congrats on 5 years of doing what comes so naturally to you - lucky for us that you learned to share so generously waaaaay back in kindergarten. ; )
The first image reminded me of the little store in Desbarats, where my dad would have his fish frozen and held for him until our return trip home after our summer vacations all those years ago. Princess Galoshes is adorable, as are Skittles and Benny. Just another of your great sets of photos.
Happy Blogversary Hillary - I've sure enjoyed "meeting" you! Seeing the world through your perspective is always a treat for me. Love so many of these photos that I can't pick a favorite - they all speak of everyday ordinary life and so are very special. I'll have one of those wine coolers with you. Enjoy your week.
The princess galoshes were my favorite... until I got to see Benny's sweet face! It's been too long. Thanks for the lovely pictures. I couldn't look at them larger, though, since Flickr says I don't have permission to view them. And I'm a Flickr pro!
Nice change of pace with the photos. That store is the kind of place I'd love to stop and linger
The Loose Ends Photos are great. Even the ones through car windows. I like all the soccer balls. The photo of the old store is sparking my imagination of what it was like so many years ago. Of course the telephone booth was not there in the beginning, and now it is probably not even working. Hard to even find public telephones these days.
Hilary, your "Princess in Galoshes" is stunning! Great shot!;0)))
happy 5 years! that's awesome!
i love benny and skittles. such beautiful portraits. i'd love a drink, thank you! that light across the piano is beautiful! and i so enjoyed your view of 'that beautiful heap of mess' behind the horse. :)
That phone booth still functions?
Love the pink tutu with the yellow galoshes.
and your summer cooler sounds yummy.
very cool...love that patern of the sun through the blinds...very cool....the general store is pretty cool as well...we are in branson on vacation and they seem to be everywhere...
Those were very, very fun! I quite like Princess Galoshes!
I just posted a berry extravaganza post. And now I have one more use for raspberries. An infused drink. Yum. But all your photos are yummy. I'd like to pop a pea right now!
The loose end photos are fabulous....I particularly like the Princess galoshes.....since I have a slightly older same song different words here at my house. Our footwear of choice is cowgirl boots though.

i enjoyed the different style from you! Ending with Benny was a nice touch. He always makes me smile. Loved the food photos, especially the brussel sprouts. I have yet to buy them fresh, but it's on my radar. Hope you have a great week!
I love the yellow galoshes!
Princess Galoshes has style!
Thank YOU for that part of the five years I've been visiting this space. There is always something to be had here that delights me.
Congratulations on five years, Hillary! Quite an accomplishment! Do you feel that over the course of the years, your photographic chops have only been honed?
Love kitty, and Benny, of course!
thank you for the enjoyable 5 years .. I think a glass of your new summer cooler would be lovely ....
Congratulations on 5 years Hilary!
I am so glad that you are here.
A truly wonderful selection of photographs. I just love that general store, and I'll bet there are some real neat things inside.
I'll take one of your favorite summer drinks. As a matter of fact, I'll take two!
Happy Monday to you my friend!
xo.
Congrats on 5 years of blogging. Hope you continue for a lot longer. I enjoyed the photos.
Happy Blogiversary! Great set of photos as always!
Happy fifth anniversary. So glad our paths crossed in the blogsphere. Who knew?
Congratulations on 5 years! Your pictures inspire me, and i'm glad you are here.
What wonderful snaps! I'll have some of those brussel sprouts along with a slurp of your Red Baron. Benny looks like such a little devil, much resembling my fox terrier, Beatle who also loves to be wet.
I love the brussel sprouts in the garlic, um, yummy. And, what is Benny up to???????
Congratulations on those five years of wonderful photography. You have kept our eyes glued to our monitors joyfully.
That was a fun romp! Your cocktail sounds delightful and reminded me I need to drink more. Love the ballerina in the galoshes and of course wee soggy Benny.
Happy 5 years, I'm so glad we met!
I LOVE Princess Galoshes, and PLEASE pour me one.
So many great pictures, the shadows on the piano picture is just fabulous.
Such beautiful, fun, lively photos. :)
what a nice fusion of ideas
Happy fifth! Wow!! I loved your outdoor theme pictures. Cheers, Ruby
I love princess galoshes, what a sense of style
Skittles is beautiful, such a regal look
and Benny
ahhhh Benny makes my heart smile, he is quite the character
I want to kiss his nose
Can't think of much that's better than having a few nibbles, fruit infused wine, and a chat while Benny cavorts and Skittles purrs.
I want that drink!
Gorgeous pics, Hilary. Good work on the fly.
Congrats on 5yrs of blogging! I will do that in Oct..I've enjoyed reading your blog and loving your photography. I think you live in a beautiful part of this world, but I imagine you would find beauty in any place you and camera would go! The pink skirt and yellow galoshes...love it!
Congrats on the 5 years and sharing your wonderful thoughts and photos with us all! Lovin' that little Princess Galoshes and of course Skittles and Benny!
I love the clarity of your photographs. And yes, I will take a Girl's Night Out, thank you very much!
Princess Galoshes is super-cool. May she always be so.
Was Benny a gate crasher at the girls' night out?
Thanks for sharing your images, Hilary. That phone booth caught my eye straight away. I remember when my dad was an employee of the Bell System and the bell logo was ubiquitous--a symbol of progress as well as of security. Never did we think that that real-world full of hardware would give way to the technology we have in our pockets today.
I love this serie...
Best regards from Paris,
Pierre
Hilary: Congratulations on your 5th Blogaversary! Loved seeing The puppy and the cat. Two peas in a pod! Loved the General Store too. Small towns can be so fascinating with these finds!!! :)
You've been keeping that shutter busy and you do very well with non-floral images too. I'd say the phone booth has been obsolete for a few years now.
FIVE YEARS!!!! Congrats :). I feel I've been here since nearly the beginning. I am sure of it!
For a minute I wondered where I was and then I saw Benny and knew you were still there ;). (Yes, I read the beginning, but you really switched up your style on this one. I guess it's the five years and all ;).)
BTW Jane and I NEED the galoshes. We have the skirt :).
Well, happy blogaversary Hilary! Five years. Gosh, I feel like I'm hitting a wall at two. You inspire me to go on... ;)
Nothing like galoshes and a skirt. And a phone booth? Oh my gosh--can't believe it's not already obsolete! (Thought is was.)
Happy 5th Blogging Anniversary, and thanks for sharing your photos. I liked them all, but especially the one of the sun shining thru the slats onto the piano top. - Karen
The colours and view of Princess Galoshes are super.
Lord, I've been bad, haven't I? Love the piano. And the beer. Lovely colo(u)rs. You seem to have quite the delicate touch with slicing limes too, my dear.
And, apropos of nothing, let's say Paul McCartney's Lunch Box/Odd Sox. Kind of has a loose-end, throwaway feel to it, maybe?
Thanks everyone for the good wishes and kind comments. You sure do make blogging a fun experience. :)
And a fabulous five years it has been! Thank YOU for sharing your wonderful perspective with us.
I hope I'm not too late to the party! I've taken a cue from the little fashionista in pink and decked myself out in frills and gumboots (the boots are handy for when Benny rushes past). That summer refresher drink would suit me just fine, thanks. Oh and some cheese, certainly. I hope Benny won't be jealous of me petting the cat, but wet dogs, no matter how cute, are a wee bit smelly.
Happy 5th Blogging Year! I admire your stamina.
Lynne xo
I love the cat, Benny and I need the yellow boots. Priceless.
