~ Paul Scott
“I search for the realness, the real feeling of a subject, all the texture around it. I always want to see the third dimension of something. I want to come alive with the object.”
~ Andrew Wyeth

Some real wonderful finds. I like the moss, snow and wood.
Thought provoking and clever; I especially like image #2. The bark speaks to me. :)
Love that Andrew Wyeth quote. Great pictures. They really do the job of illustrating textures.
Wonderful textures!
I love the bark of the tree the best!
So beautiful. You always manage to find the perfect quotes for your photos. Thank you for taking the time.
Happy weekend, xo jj
Ah, textures... I love how good photos bring one into the situation, engaging the senses. I can almost smell and feel these images...
A beautiful wooden dream, lovely thoughts.

really nice. i love that first quote, too. :)

You are such an artist, Hilary. I enjoy looking at (or falling into) your pictures so much. The quotes were also very thought provoking. :-)
Even the blue of the snow shows off a cool, crinkly texture. I love them all.
Oh these are FAB!! That last shot is completely Out Of This World! Is that shelf fungi?
Your quotes are awesome too!!
Love these! This is the kind of texture I really appreciate seeing in a photo. All are truly lovely and are paired with wonderful quotes.
I really like your close look at texture, Hilary. I twig in the snow is my favorite.
beautiful <3
Great perspective!
Trees provide us with so many images and yes textures. You've caught some interesting textures which are beautiful to look at. For some of these things I wonder how long did it take and what has happened while these textures formed.
The contrast between the sticks and the snow is great. You have such a wonderful eye for detail!
As we well know, photography is all about light and shadow. Texture uses them and forms a third dimension. I can get lost in a tree trunk. ;)
Good stuff. :)
Ah!!!!!
The quotes are marvelously supporting and enhancing the pics.
Nice juicy stuff this. :) I just got photoshop 10, and I will see if I can add a little something to my images. :)
You find such beauty in the most mundane things, Hilary. Or maybe you make the most mundane things beautiful with your photographic ability. Your perspective on the fungus was especially nice.
the tree bark is so so beautiful
all those bumps and cricks telling a story, like character lines on a grand old face
so wonderful
the sweet twig standing in the snow looks a bit like an ancient tripod
love the first quote and the last picture best. i always enjoy your quote posts. you food for thought and a feast for the eyes.
I love how you find the beauty in the simplest of things. Enjoyed the quotes, too.
You make me want to reach out and touch your world.
Great photos, the rich warm color of wood, the contrast between snow and bark, it's all beautiful
The textures of a life, the bumps and lumps, silky smooth patches and furry nostalgic ones, crispy crunchy areas, dry or oozing...all so symbolically illustrated throughout nature; there for our understanding and interpretation if we only take the time to look. To really look. As you do.
Lovely collection, especially the funghi in the last one.
Textures is an interesting topic for today Hilary. Good quotes too. I specially liked your big tree trunk photo - Dave
Beautiful collection, the empty milkweed shell is awesome.
The second one of the bark looks like a chocolate brownie! Lol! Yum. All beautiful. :)
Beautiful shots Hilary.
Wowie! I really like these Hilary.
the Andrew Wyeth quote and photo is my favorite.
Amazing eye.
I am laughing at all the puns going through my head right now .. but I am not going there .. oh okay I will .. ''I'll not be barking up any of those trees'' said Benny
Great textural finds! (and I love Daryl's comment!)
Thank you everyone for such kind words. I'll try to get my visits in to your blogs before too long. Your kindness, as always, is very much appreciated. :)
The bark up close shows each shadow and ridge and ripple. Great colors and clarity.
Just love all of these and the quotes are delicious!
I've always loved texture and image #4 fascinates me.
