Meeting Elizabeth and No Posts of the Week

Unfortunately, I've not had much chance to visit many blogs, this past week so once again, I'm going to put off posting the POTW until next time. I've only collected a few and I'd rather offer up a more complete selection when I have more time to put into it. Hopefully, that will be next week, but no promises.
Edited to add that I just realized that I'm one day early with this non-POTW. It usually comes out on Wednesday, but I'm not going to have any more for you by then, so I might as well keep this published until Thursday when I'll have a new blog post.

But let me tell you about who I met last Thursday.

Meeting another blogger is such a kick. Until this past week, I'd only ever met one before, and that was Deb from Talk at the Table. She lives just a few miles from me and came by for lunch one autumn day just over a year ago. She's every bit as lovely as you would guess from her wonderful blog.

Of course I know blogger Frank in real life but we met before either one of us were bloggers. Though truth be told, we did meet online while playing trivia in IRC (Internet Relay Chat). That's a long, evolving story and best saved for another time. Maybe. Probably.

Last Thursday, my son Alex, his girlfriend Veronica and I had the pleasure of meeting Elizabeth Grimes from Magical Moments, and her husband, Eddie. She was in Toronto to participate in a Musician's Mentorship Program with Canada's National Ballet School. We got in touch by email and made plans for the two of them to stop by for coffee.

They are the sweetest couple.

Elizabeth is bright and engaging, funny and warm. We chatted with ease about all sorts of things, including some of you! Eddie is kind-hearted and clever and probably has the best manners of anyone I've ever met. Canadians are supposed to be known for being polite but we Canucks have nothing over Eddie who probably stood up every time anyone walked in or out of the room, took a seat, left their seat or appeared to attempt any of the above. That man has good old-fashioned, gentlemanly manners. It is incredibly endearing.

And they're both cute as a button. See for yourself in the image below.

Elizabeth CD
Elizabeth so kindly gave me a copy of her wonderful CD, Silk in the Sky which is due to be released this spring. All but one song was beautifully written by her. You can listen to some of these fine tracks over on her website.

You can read all about Elizabeth's first trip north of the border on her blog post "Thank You, Canada." Please stop by and leave her a comment if you have a moment.

Elizabeth and Eddie, if you ever find yourselves back in this neck of the woods, I hope you know that you both have a standing invitation to come for another visit. I'll be looking forward to it.

What a great occasion and lovely photos of all of you.

So exciting to meet another blogger, especially such a pretty talented one (with a lovely polite husband ;))

I loved your previous post on textures as well. Texture is much more noticeable without the softness of greenery and colourful floweriness.

How fun to meet a blogger in person, and such a talented and pretty one too.

Gee whiz, I feel bad. We lived in close proximity and never visited. I guess we should do something about that this year... eh?

Glad you all had a nice visit and they were able to return home without being detained or worse. ;-)

I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow blogger recently, too, hilary and it was so special. It will stay with me forever. How lovely for you to meet this fellow blogger, whom I'm now off to visit for the first time. Thanks for the introduction.

How exciting for both you and Elizabeth. I haven't actually read her blog.... so many blogs out there to look at.... so I'll have to go over there to say hello!
I have met one blogger (and his wife) too... we had breakfast together at a hotel near the airport on their way from Labrador to Australia! a couple of years ago.
And as you and I are living in the same vicinity, although at different ends of the city, we may bump into one another one day!

How wonderful for you to have had the chance to meet Elizabeth and her husband.
And it's so nice to see you (and them)! Now I'll be sure to recognize you when you come to Alberta to visit your son! (Is he here yet?)

This was so much fun to read! You really described Eddie to a tee!!! :) He'll get a kick out of it, I'm proud that he's my husband. Who knows, maybe I'll be back in Toronto in a few years looking for a job at the ballet school! If you ever find yourself down this way, be sure to let me know! I'll show you some of the best photo-ops, although you don't have trouble finding them yourself wherever you are. You even made my CD look good sitting on a table! Thanks for the post and for the links. I'm so happy we met. :)

How sweet! And you're right: the description of Elizabeth is "cute as a button," all right. I will go visit her, since she's new to me. And a picture of YOU as well. That's a real treat. Thanks for introducing me to a new blog. :-)

I just have a warm fuzzy feeling after reading this post. Before I started blogging, this aspect of becoming friends with people I'd never met is something that hadn't occurred to me. But, after reading someone's blog for awhile, and learning about their families, their interests, and their senses of humor, that element of caring for each other grows. I still worry about and pray for dear Lori, and it's been eight months or more since she's posted anything. I'm so glad you and Elizabeth and Eddie were able to meet and get better acquainted and that you shared the visit with us.

I love reading how other bloggers meet and find that they really enjoy each other's company. She is a doll, and talented, too. Love your picture, Hilary. You have a beautiful smile.

Well, this is a great post. Elizabeth has so much talent. She is not on iTunes but she probably will be soon. Then I will buy some of her music.
You all look fantastic in the photos.

Aren't they just the cutest couple! You look lovely too! I've never met another blogger and I think it would be great to finally get to meet face to face bloggers that I consider friends. I find myself saying: "I have this blogger friend"...and people always feel like that's not a "real" friend. Sort of like an imaginary friend I guess! Glad you had a fun day with them!

How nice to meet a fellow blogger! Sounds like you hit it off well and had a good visit.
Great pics!

Interesting how you get much more than a fellow blogger when you meet other bloggers. As with this couple there is so much more to them.
I shall look at Elizabeth's blog.

Thanks, everybody for stopping by to comment. I have been lax in getting to your own fine blogs but hope to pick up the slack again within the next few days. Thanks so much for your always-kind words.

I also see a few new faces visiting my last few posts. A fond welcome to all of you. I hope to return the visit shortly.

How cool is that! I've only met one fellow blogger but like you and Frank, J and I knew each other long before either of us blogged. But it was writing that brought us together - she read my newspaper columns, I got to read one of her books.

Thanks for sharing the photos. It's such fun to put faces to names!

How wonderful to meet other bloggers! I might have to leave my husband at home when I meet you someday. He always wanted to be a crotchety old man and now that he is retired...

Thanks for introducing them to us, and for pictures of all 3 of you! :)
