Drippy Icicles and Posts of the Week

Monday was sunny but cold. The icicles which formed from the previous day's snowfall were melting rapidly in the late morning sunshine. I saw this one while waiting for a bus and I noticed that it dripped about once every five seconds or so. I was determined to catch it in mid drip. That wasn't easy for me. I held my camera to my eye and focused up on the icicle.

About ten minutes and thirty shots later I finally captured a drop, though it came out pretty blurry. Still, after all those shots, I've deemed it blog-worthy.

You made me smile. A few weeks ago, I was determined to capture a droplet falling from an icicle, too. I finally did, but I didn't deem mine to be blog-worthy. You did a much better job. :)

Many wonderful bloggers here and that photo, again, took me back to childhood and seeing icicles from gutters of homes in Winter! :)

Your determination and focus paid off big time! Hope you didn't get a stiff neck and...how many buses did you miss? ;) Whatever the cost, it was worth it. The blue sky background sets off the icicle brilliantly. I love the baby drop in the middle :) I look forward to checking out the POTW.

Tough to do those photos. I have had some failures, and perhaps no successes.

What an amazing shot--patience is rewarded! Beyond blog worthy, without question.

Thank you so much for the POTW mention; it is more than generous of you. I am honored to be in such company. Congratulations, all!

And if you are taking suggestions, may I recommend "In Silence" by Cricket of Cricket and Porcupine (you don't need to be religious to appreciate his meditation on grace); and deb colarossi's
brave "who knew?" at TALK AT THE TABLE, which speaks for itself. Beautifully.

Hilary said...

Thanks for stopping by, everyone. I always appreciate your kind words and how you always show you support to those who were named as POTW.

For those who asked, I did not miss the bus. I had a 25 minute wait and I filled that time nicely.

Joanna Jenkins said...

This put a big smile on my face. The colors are stunning and the blue sky makes the ice look so happy... The fact that it's dripping only means it's warming up there :-)

Thanks a million for the POTW shout-out. It's greatly appreciated. And Jill's post was such a treat to see and great.

Hope your week is going great. I'm heading out on vacation tomorrow. Yippee. xo jj
