A Relaxing Photo and Reader Recommendation Mini POTW

July has been HOT here in southern Ontario, and Frank and I have been up to his family cottage a couple of times. I'll have some photos for you soon. I'm enjoying this season immensely but blogging has to suffer a bit as a result - particularly the Posts of the Week which take a lot of reading time in order to select them. Luckily, a few regular readers have sent me a three selections which they enjoyed. Please remember that I welcome recommendations which you might find as you work your own way through the Blogosphere.

I hope you're enjoying the season - wherever you may be and that you'll take some time to relax and cool off like this wise mother squirrel was doing in Frank's back yard. I'll try to be back with a regular POTW next week, but no promises. Without further delay, I present three recommended Posts of the Week.

Hilary, that's a wonderful capture of the squirrel. I wondered how you could tell it's a mother squirrel, but only for about a half a second!

It's sizzling here too. Almost unbearable. But I'm off home to England where it's usually cool and rainy!

I think I'd be hanging on a little tighter if I were relaxing in that tree! And I'll check out the recommendations. Glad to see you got back safe and sound. We are in beautiful weather here in Bellingham, highs in the 60s or low 70s, and sleeping weather is great!

It makes me smile that you are enjoying the summer and out living life instead of sitting in front of a computer screen for hours reading about others living life. Even though I haven't been away from home on a vacation or holiday, I have been way busy myself. I will check these blogs out when I get the chance! Happy Wednesday to you and yours! XX

I would like to recommend the "Jack And The Beanstalk" series over at The Surly Writer.

That will take you to Part One. There are currently Part Two and Part Three posted, and the finale is upcoming. Good stuff.

Hi Hilary, that photo is the best.

I think you are amazing. I don't know how you are able to read as many blogs as you do in the first place. I follow quite a few blogs and I have a hard time keeping up so I can only imagine the time it takes you to read. Anyhow, you are doing an excellent service to the blogging community and I think you derserve a break. Have some fun and relax.

Been HOT here, too. Gotta love that squirrel!

We love the squirrels in our yard and we try to get good pictures of them, but this is one of the best pictures of a squirrel I have ever seen. I love it. The humidity here has been harsh this week. I am so grateful for A/C inside the house. And I don't want to be outside much right now. We went to grocery store this morning real early to be out there before the extreme heat.

I came back to say that for some strange reason [and I have tried three times] that I click on Kitty Cakes..it comes straight back to my blog.

Love the squirrel, by the way. I've seen grey and red squirrels but that one looks almost black.

Dear Hilary..........only now has the sun come out here. Cool until today.

I also wanted you to know that I posted a last good bye several days ago then took Phototropic down. You were the only reader. Most days no one stopped by. Not even me.

Thanks for caring....I'm not stopping with the pictures already. :)

That poor squirrel does look hot and tired! I'm pretty sure I've been looking the same lately. ;)
After some thought, I've decided that summer is the perfect time to take one step back from blogging and immerse myself a little more into the here and now.

July has been cold here in Melbourne, Hilary - except fopr the few days we were in NYC.

Yes, we caught up with DarylE in Times Square - she got to meet my entire family!

And yes, she gave me a big hug from you as well!

Awesome shot. You know it's hot when the squirrels are stretching out on tree limbs to cool off. My cat does the same thing on the floor. Hope you had a wonderful time at the cabin.

Ah, it Summer, real life calls (smile)! I simply adore this darling shot - wow Hilary, I don't know how you not only always seem to manage the art of always being precisley in the right spot to capture these moments, but virtually always manage to frame and capture them so perfectly!

Thanks everyone. I so appreciate your understanding and encouragement to just enjoy the summer. POTWs will probably continue to be sporadic throughout the season. It's great to see you all stop by and especially nice to see you, David - Mr. Post of the Day himself. :)

Thanks for the recs, Hilary; will definitely check them out. Hope you are staying COOL--it has been beastly hot here. I completely understand that squirrel!
