You have a great ability to pair photographs with words to the improvement of both, though hardly any of these examples needs improvement.

These are all beautiful, but the first one's golden light is amazing, and that last one just knocked my socks off! Thank you, HIlary, for this delightful tour.

I love the Ambrose Bierce quote: "Photograph: a picture painted by the sun without instruction in art."

The Arlo Guthrie quote: "You can't have a light without a dark to stick it in." reminded me of a conversation between a tall girl I know and her short friend. Tall girl was teasing her short friend about her height, and Short Friend responded, "If I weren't short, you wouldn't be tall." :)

The perspective on the Fern shot is stunning...just stunning.

I always like the posts you do with photos and quotations. Today you had some quotes from more modern performers and some old.
I think the one from Ambrose Bierce must be one of the few positive things he said as he was rather dark.

Hilary, these are incredible examples of how light alone can make an ordinary photo amazing. Not that these are ordinary photos, but light is definitely the star subject! Love love love!

Just wow. I love this group of photos, Hilary. It's fairy lighting. The dandelions look like they'll blow if I blink too hard and the first maple keys are a dream.

Quite a nice use of light Hilary! I enjoyed this a lot! :)

These are all wonderful, of course, but the fern is particularly striking. I had a teach er once who said something like: we read to learn about ourselves. I don't know if he was quoting someone or if it was his own observation, but it stuck with me. He was talking about novels, but I later decided it applied pretty much to all art. That is the ultimate reason we create it and are drawn to it: because it teaches us something about ourselves.

And the fern in the light just sent me back to my Nana's driveway, in a certain shady spot by the garage, where I used to lie on the cool tar and look up through the ferns that had overtaken that corner. I was fascinated by them then, and I am fascinated by them now. I had almost forgotten.

A silly little memory, perhaps, with a significance that perhaps I could never tell another, but a lovely little memory all the same. So thanks, my dear.

I think, perhaps, the soundtrack will come later ;-)

I am so trying to be back, and make the time to write and read. It'd harder than I thought, but I;ll get there.

I love these different aspects of sunshine. Some things are reflected, some are highlighted, some are backlit... beautiful. Some of them look almost like stage lighting.

Completely fantastic! I am especially partial to that last one.

Anais Nin - I love the beauty and gentleness in that quote.

I know I've complimented your photographic skills a couple hundred times, but have I ever told you how much I enjoy your selection of quotes to go with them in a piece such as this? If I haven't done so before, I hope I now have.
