If you truly love Nature, you will find beauty everywhere. ~ Vincent Van Gogh
I've decided to step up my posting schedule for a while. Instead of my usual twice a week plus Wednesday's Post of the Week, I'm going to post a little more frequently - just for now. Why? Because I have too many photos.
That doesn't sound like much of a problem, does it? And it's not, really. I'd just rather try to keep a bit more current and I'm finding that I'm introducing my posts with "A few weeks ago..." or "At the beginning of last month..." and I'd much prefer to say "A couple of days ago.." So just for a little while, you're going to be deluged with more photos per post, and more posts per week.
The Posts of the Week (if and when I have some for you) will alternate between Wednesdays and Thursdays in so that I can publish a post every couple of days.
I hope you enjoy the photos, below.
It was a breezy day so much of this wispy branch is out of focus but I still liked the effect and the colours.
I was trying to get a photo of a song sparrow when I noticed that there were also a couple of cedar waxwings in this tree just across the road from Frank's place. I had the wrong lens (Macro100 instead of the 100-400) so the quality is not great, but I still snapped a few before going back into the house to changes lenses. It's a good thing I did because they were gone when I came back out. The mother waxwing was on a higher branch but kept her back to me the full time. I haven't seen too many of these lovely birds and this was the first time I got the chance to see a young waxwing. It's a little cutie, eh?
This morning puddle is brought to you by heavy rains the previous night. Everything looks better after a good soaking - especially the greenery of the woods.
Well, not everything. Have you ever seen a more bedraggled looking mourning dove? Poor thing doesn't have the good sense to come in out of the rain.
There, that's much better. They really are a lovely looking bird.
Back to the cedar grove path which does indeed look good after a rainfall.
Perhaps he was seeking shelter from the rain. He sure chose a beautiful setting.
This little beauty is beginning to look a bit tattered. Its wings must have done a lot of flying.
This little guy needed a rest and immediately lit upon my arm when I held it out. That was a special treat.
A catkin nestled gently upon pine needle tips. What else is there to say about that? It caught my eye.
Dainty little soft pink bells swaying in the breeze.
I'm not sure how this tree managed to hang onto its cones but not its needles. Still, it looked lovely against the setting sun, so I thought I'd share.
More to come soon.

Hey, I finally get to be the first to comment on Hilary' post. The pine tree with no needles but the cones is a winner. The dark outline of the tree into the sunset really sets things off.
Oboy! More Hilary pictures, never something to be missed. I am glad to hear they will be coming more often. I love the poor bedraggled versus fluffy dove.
The silvery colors of the photo of the bug with the tattered wings is breathtakingly beautiful.
I get lost in your photos!
And thanks for the Bierce quote, LOL
Wishing YOU Aloha, from Waikiki, Hilary

Bring 'em on Hilary. I can never get enough of your photos. It's good to see the world through your eyes.
More wonderful shots!
I'd like to nominate Nara Storyteller's absolutely magical photos for a Post of the Week.

I especially loved the pic of the Waxwing. In past winters we used to have several flocks of a hundred or more around here. But I haven't seen those for the last couple of years. I still see a few individual birds in the summer. And they are cute!
Hilary, I love the photo of a waxwing, these birds spend all cold winter here eating the berries. Thanks!
Very nice, top to bottom.
Just like you. ;)
So gorgeous pictures,
Thanks a lot !
Greetings from Paris,
Pierre
You are the great photographer, those are brilliant Hilary. Especially the road with the trees, superb.
Poor mourning dove! I wonder why she is out in the rain. Maybe she is peri-menopausal and having a hot flash. Maybe her kids are driving her mad and she is taking a break.
Beautiful photos! I especially like the dainty pink bells!! All you your offerings are a treat for ones senses. Thanks
Hugs

Beautiful nature captures. What a lovely place in which you live! xo
Hilary, these are incredible pictures! The ones of birds are my favorites :)
Those of us who love your photography will never complain about your posting more photos. The greenery in some of these pictures comes almost as a surprise to eyes that have seen little of that this year. And water puddles...non-existent in these parts. Beautiful cedar waxwing baby, even with the wrong lens. :)
Post away! Love that first shot and the cedar waxwing. After many years, I actually saw one in the top of a very tall tree last weekend. Too far away for a decent shot, though.

Oh wow! You see beauty much the same way I do.It is all around us,in the most common things. I loved each picture and my favourite has to be the path into the woods, with the reflection. I love that shot.
That young cedar waxwing reminds me of the tousle headed look of my teens when i first wake them up!
Beautiful, and i'm glad you will be posting more.
Of course all are wonderful but the morning puddle and the reflection are so beautiful. I'd love to get that much rain and just sit and listen to it. And to see puddles afterwards would be delightful.I like your new posting plan.....more to see and I love that.

Always a treat....
honestly, hilary, you could post several times A DAY and i'd not tire of your photos. they are just beautiful, and i can almost hold my breath as i go through these to see one more beautiful than the next...
Wonderful photos.... all of them! Always such a pleasure to see your view :-)
Love all the beauty in your world! I'm hoping we get a bit of that lovely rain this weekend...we really need a good cleansing! That last shot gave me the chills. I just had an vision of all the pines that surround us losing all the needles and just the cones hanging there. That would make an interesting header for "Whispering Pines"!
Each of your photos is a symphony. What talent you have! Then........such lovely prose. You are indeed a gifted artist in so many ways! We are just grateful we have found you and get to share. You are SUCH a gift!
TY, TY.
Hello Hilary,
especially I was amazed with the subtle and exquisite colors in your first photo. This photo seems to depict exactly what Gogh mentioned.
I though maybe his words are the answer to my question. My husband or I do not drive a car. So, I have had to give up taking photos in remote areas many times because of poor public transportation. Giving up was stressful for me. But, when I read Gogh's words, I realized that I can find beauty everywhere. So true. The words released my stress a lot.
Thank you very much for posting your stunning photos and his words.
Have a great weekend.

i def have no problem with a fe more posts if they carry such beauty...even the watered down morning dove....smile.s...a wonderful cool day here so far...and about to rain...
oh hilary, your photos always look like visual poetry!
LOVE these!
xo
All very nice, i liked the Hoverfly in the flower.
Here I am again waxing poetic over your stunning photos.
The more the merrier I always say, so bring them on.
That poor mourning dove is really a sight. I guess he didn't know enough to come in out of the rain.
I love the delicate pink bells too.
Wonderful.
as usual, all your photos are outstanding, but that first one is just especially so.
Beautiful shots. I like the soaked mourning dove. It is neat how there are insects out there enjoying the blooms.
Yay! So glad you'll be posting more. I am loving that reflection in the puddle and all the other nature shots. Sadly, the only waxwing I've seen in my back yard was deceased. I think it knocked itself out on my bathroom window. :/
I'm glad you have too many pictures! The sopping dove was so funny, poor thing. And what the heck is a catkin? Now I have to google. ;) You do have the eye, my dear! No doubt about it. :)
Good afternoon, Hilary. You always have such beautiful and interesting images. I really like the first photo and of course the puddle reflecting the image of the tree.
Do you have any of your photography hanging on your walls?
why is it that i often have the wrong lens on, too. i hate it when that happens.
and that wet mourning dove is just precious :)
Thanks for:
sun dappled paths
and tree spangled puddles,
lone baby birds
and doves all a-muddle,
pink bells
and catkins
and tired, tattered wings,
woods walks with you, Hil
are all of these things
I love that woodland trail with its magic puddle! So many delights that you discovered for us to linger over. I'll be back for another stroll or two.
Great photos as always. I am in awe of your publishing efforts and can you send some rain our way!
I love every shot, but especially the one with the puddle. Love the reflection of the tree in it. I keep saying that I will begin to take more time in composing my shots, but still I tend to forget.
OH! That BEE! :)
Although I am in love with macros, the puddle on the winding path is my favorite. There is always mystery about what is just behind the bend.
Lovely pictures as always.
BTW - It gives me a big smile how Frank adores you!
So very beautiful. I could gaze at the tree's reflection in the puddle all day.
Thank you.
Hilary,
quite wonderful to see your beautiful images.
i understand, the images can pile up ;-)
your photos are wonderful!!! I have recently started looking at photography blogs and am amazed at what I have been missing!! oh my gosh... the beauty of the world is magnified in your pictures...
I am your newest follower..pls follow back if you can.
True to form, you manage to eek out the magic everyone adores.
Bravo!
LOVELY pics all!!! A GREAT GREAT GREAT shot of the Hover Fly in the white flower ..... and the sunset pic ..... ahhhhhh Fabulous!
that dove is not going to leave food to come in out of the rain, silly
Ahhh...puddles, a bee in a flower, and that sunset! Thank you.
I think I needed to see those reminders of the hand of God.
Such intricate design.
He does good work.
Surely He cares about me, and you, too?
Summery photos - the tree trunk reflected in the big puddle is wonderful. I'd like to walk down that wet, winding road.
Love the little bells & all that lush greenery. The bokeh in the first photo is dreamy.
Your line about hanging on to one's cones despite the loss of one's needles--yes, that's exactly my plan lol!
Great reflection in that one photo.
You'll never hear me complain about more photos or posts!!
Do I have to pick a favorite?
I only wish I had more time to gaze at these beauties.
