The first image was shot on September 19. You can see that the trees retained most of their summer greenery.
This second photo was snapped just over a month later, on October 23. More than a hint of colour adorns their leaves. Autumn was fully underway.
I'll have some more photos for you tomorrow.
And now, without further delay, here are the Posts of the Week. The icon below is yours for the taking if if your blog post is named as a POTW.

Please drop by their blogs for a visit and leave a kind comment if you have the time. Also, please feel free to add your own choices (for any blog except this one) for a specific blog post in the comments section below, where others can see them.
Thank you.

Hilary, I'd love to walk on that path in the park with you.
Thank you once again (as always!) for doing the work of bringing great blog posts forward for all of us to read.

I like that, POTW is like a box of chocolates :)
Thanks for the reading tips.
Have a great rest of week.
J'aime beaucoup la deuxième image....

I would be photographing those trees often, too. They just beg to be photographed.
The photos are great. What a fun exercise to take pictures of the same thing in different seasons. I will do that this year. I keep learning things from you. Hugs.
It's such a pretty pathway... can't wait to see it this winter too!
I love the difference between them, they give you the charm of taking the photos.
thank you for doing this hilary...always great to meet new people and to celebrate friends that have been around a while longer...nice progression shots...love how quickly the picture changes on natures easle...
another great selection .. and I am in awe of your path shots ..
Beautiful trees. I have a serious, abiding love affair with big trees. They complete me. Whenever I choose a new place to live, it is largely based on the trees and the shade they provide.
I love the idea of taking a photograph of the same location at different times of the year. The light is beautiful on both photographs. Thank you, Hilary for all the work you do finding the POTW's
The path and the trees looks like a great run Hilary.
Off to check some of your POTW awardees.
I love the idea of taking pictures of the same scene at different times. What a difference a season makes.
Thank you for choosing my Halloween post as a POTW! That really means a lot to me!
thank you, again, hilary, for putting these choices here for us. i was moved to tears by the Thanksgiving story, and by adrian's photos as well. you present so much goodness and beauty. :)
Do you know how happy your pictures make me? VERY happy! Thanks, and thanks for all the POTW goodies too!
Thank you very much, Hilary. I'm glad you like the piece so much. I have mixed feelings about reposts, but I think I gave this one all I had the first time and have nothing more to say on the subject.
And now, a day I thought I could read and visit has taken a turn... swallowed up by real life, as it were. And there it is.
Again, I am so delighted to see some familiar friends mentioned here, but I am particularly glad to see Cricket's wonderful post included - so well deserved!
Your photographs, as ever, are captivating. Out of all of nature, trees hold an especial magic for me.
Lovely progression in the tree shots. I imagine they look a lot different now.
I hope we see these trees all laden with snow this winter, very cool.
Thanks for choosing Ed & Reub's post as a POTW, and now I look forward to reading all of the others: it's great to have these recommendations!
What a beautiful transition. I'm loving the fall colors this year.
Sorry I've been gone, my blog disappeared while I was in New England. I've put up a new one here to keep up for now.
Has a week gone by already? Congrats to the POTW!
While I am super-flattered that I have been chosen (once again), I must also thank you for keeping up to date on all those other great blogs that I missed. (Nice trees!)
While I love your post, I couldn't get past the following words:
"[the trees are] just a few steps from where I live"
Consider me jealous.
P.S. Now that I know you have a POTW, it is now my life-long goal to make it on that list.
I'll bust out the big guns.
Hilary, those are wonderful trees, full of story! Congrats to the winners.
Hilary, I am delighted to be mentioned on your POTW! That photo comes from my Cape Breton blog at www.ksdoolittle.blogspot.com if you are interested in seeing more. Thank you so very much! ~karen
It is amazing how those leaves have changed in colour.
I love both the photos though.

Nuts in May.
Gosh Hilary,
Another POTW?! I am blushing (with delight). I'd like to share this award with Mother Nature.
;-)
I see why you are drawn to photographing that line of trees as the seasons change. They're like dancing sentinels. Although, if sentinels danced I guess they'd soon be relieved of their duties.
Don't you wonder who planted those trees, spaced so evenly, so long ago? I always enjoy visiting the POTW. Thanks.
It's so good to stop here after a crazy week in the cold. Thank you!
Thanks for POTW.
The trees would make a good four picture set one for each of the seasons.
So much change in a month. Great shots.
Nice photo's...of course they are!
Thanks for the honor.
Thanks for the nod, Hilary, and to those of you who chose to visit. I will also get back to you, but I'm not at the top of my game right now. Blasted flu.
Thanks, everyone!
Love your "Post of the Week" feature...I'm enjoying all the new (to me) blogs!
xoxoxo, cd
Thanks for the blog tips, Hilary-- Deb and Cricket really knocked these posts out of the ball park.

No wonder you go on so many walks - what a beautiful beginning! Heading off to the POTW...
WOW! I have waited for this moment, thank you very much!It is always nice to have a pat on the back, now I might have to share more serious writings with all of you again.Been slacking a bit with my move.
You are so kind Hilary! Thanks for the shout out :)
Your trees are LOVELY!! in all seasons :)
Thanks for stopping by!
I will stop by the blogs later....finally I am beginning to tie the quilt. I do love those tree shots. I hope you follow up with winter and spring versions of the same scene. Lovely stuff.
i'm surprised how late the leaves change and fall off the leaves for you. you're so much further north than i am and by that point in october i think we were a bit further along into fall.
