Every Leaf Speaks Bliss

It's been brought to my attention by a couple of folks (thanks SD and Lu) that if you receive my (or anyone's) blog posts or notifications by email, and you are commenting or replying to that email, your message will get lost in cyberspace as there is a "no reply" non-address set up by Blogger when these emails are generated by them. If you have been responding to those notifications, I thank you kindly but I've never seen your remarks.

You can comment on this and future blog posts, if you wish (and I sure hope you do), by clicking on the link to my blog and commenting there or please drop me a line at thesmittenimage@gmail.com.

Below are a few autumn photos and quotes. I hope you enjoy them.

"Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn." ~ Elizabeth Lawrence

leafy shadows
"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree." ~ Emily Bronte

steps

~ William Allingham

soft place
"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower." ~ Albert Camus

bv tree
"A woodland in full color is awesome as a forest fire, in magnitude at least, but a single tree is like a dancing tongue of flame to warm the heart." ~ Hal Borland

prickly
"Autumn wins you best by this its mute appeal to sympathy for its decay." ~ Robert Browning

grow
"For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad." ~ Edwin Way Teale

"Swinging on delicate hinges the autumn leaf almost off the stem."~ Jack Kerouac

leafy windshield
"A wind has blown the rain away and blown the sky away and all the leaves away, and the trees stand. I think, I too, have known autumn too long." ~ e. e. cummins

You captured perfectly my favourite of all seasons. Thank you Hilary :-)

Another wonderful set. Numbers one, five and eight are particularly good. I would try cropping number one but then I enjoy symmetry.

I love the twin shadow you've captured from the trunk of that tree, what an unusual image. ALL of these are wonderful, and my, hasn't the season gained momentum?

My favorite season. Lovely.

As usual, Hilary, you take my breath away with your pictures. Your eye seems to easily capture the season, but I know how hard it really is, so I bow down to your talent. I am still gasping at these.

All very nice, I liked the next to last real well as well as the mist.

Your photos and commentary are almost as good as taking a Sunday drive to see the "color".

Such warm thoughts on the coming cold weather!!

*sigh* Oh, how lovely! I had not considered before that nature and humans see autumn very differently.
Other quotes that captured me today: "almost flavoured air" (YES!) and this one from Albert Camus: "Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."

I've enjoyed seeing Autumn in many blog posts but yours really has captured the look and the feel. Great job!

We get only the brown leaves here; thanks for the reminder that the colour ones do exist somewhere for real.

I truly always love your photographs. You have cultivated the art of seeing until it is a natural thing with you. Few others have this despite years of training. A perfect example is the leaf on the pine branch. Only you would have seen that.

Notes, I don't always leave one tho I am here every day. You have such a devoted following that I am aware my words will vanish into the crowds. When I do, I drop one here on your blog. It's the easy way, and I am the laziest reader you have.

What wonderful autumn shots! I do love that first one. We are having a mild and lovely autumn - a kind of prolonged Indian summer. It's glorious!

Hands-down, my favorite picture is the leaves on the stairs. Wow.

How long does it take to become an artist like this?

I do not do the email notification thing but yet I still have many bloggers who opt to reply by email rather than on the blog itself.

I'm just the opposite. If I take time to visit and read a post I'm gonna reply on that post in the comment section of the blog. It's just the way I fly!!!

I'm always taken by your remarkable ability to capture every last speck of beauty in your subjects. What beautiful photos!!!

God bless and have a marvelous Halloween Day sweetie!!! :o)

The light and colours you have captured are simply beautiful. The quotations you found to underline each perfect moment of autumn are...well, perfect, too. Such a pleasure to savour these autumn moments here. A beautiful gathering together, Hilary, to scatter abroad.

Gorgeous photos ..

Let me clarify your note on No Reply Comments .. this only happens when a comment is left on a blog by someone who HAS NOT LINKED THEIR EMAIL TO THEIR BLOG .. I get many lovely comments from 'no-reply comment'ers and if I know their email than I add that to the send to and they get my reply .. its an easy fix here's now:

There is a way to help rid this little problem and it’s so easy to do. Readers who have blogs can do the following:

* Open your blog and click on the Customize link. It’s in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
* Click on the Dashboard link, also in the upper right hand corner.
* Now click on Edit Profile, on the left hand size of the screen right next to your picture.
* This takes you to the Edit User Profile screen.
* Look in the Privacy section.
* Check the box that says, “Show my e-mail address”.
* In the Identity section, enter in an e-mail address.
* Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on Save Profile.

• Barb, thank you so much. I'm pleased that you enjoyed the post. :)

• Thank you kindly, Indrani. :)

• Thanks very much, Leah. :)

• Barbara, my pleasure. I'm glad you like them. :)

• Lady Fi, thanks very much. We had a lovely Indian Summer a bit earlier in the month. It's pretty much normal temperatures again now but who knows, we may still have one more reprieve. Thanks for stopping by. :)

• Thanks for the kind words, Josh. I'll let you know as soon as I become one. ;)

• Nezzy, I wasn't referring to those who reply to blog comments by mail. I was referring to those who get my blog posts and/or blog post notifications by email, and then try responding to those emails. Those replies go nowhere. I too, respond to comments here in the comment section of my blog. You're not flying solo. ;) Thanks so much for your always kind words. They mean a lot to me. Enjoy the day your own self. :)

• Thank you very much, Elizabeth. :)

• Suldog, I've come across the same quote in two other blogs today also. It must be THE quote of the season. Thanks always for stopping by. :)

• Louciao, you're much too kind and I appreciate it more than you can know. Thank you for such sweet words. :)

• Thanks, Daryl.. but.. You're muddling.. not clarifying! ;)

This wasn't what I was referring to. I'm talking about those who subscribe to my blog via email. There are two ways this can be done. I have a few names (blogger allows up to ten) which I have personally added to my blog and as soon as I post my blog, Blogger sends it out in email to those few people. I use it for non-bloggers who don't keep up with my posts in any other way like other bloggers do. The email that goes to them has my blog post in its entirety in it.. photos and all, and it used to show up as if it was from me and they would hit reply to comment directly to me in email. As of a few months ago, it started showing up as coming from Blogger (as opposed to my own email address) and when they hit reply to comment on it, it now goes nowhere.

The other situation is when people fill in their own email address to subscribe to getting notifications of my postings (you can see that in my sidebar). Those notices seem to go out exactly 12 hours after I post (I know because I subscribed to it myself). Those notices are simply an email saying that I have posted and it directs them to my blog. Those too, are generated by Blogger and have a no-reply email address so anyone deciding to hit reply, thinking it's coming to me, will be sending their replies out into cyberspace too.

It has nothing to do with comments on my actual blog. I'm long aware of that issue that you and others have about no-reply comments. Those don't bother me since I respond to most of them right there in the comments section of my blog.

Thanks for trying to explain, my sweet friend, but we're talking about different things. :)

• Donna, thank you so much for such kind words. They're very much appreciated. :)

• Keith, thank you kindly. :)

• Thank you, Reb. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. :)

• Gail, thanks very kindly. I hope your week is great as well. :)

• Thanks very much, Redbush. :)

• Joanna, thanks so much. The season is indeed a beauty. :)

I really love the photos of the leaves on the steps!

An amazing array of Autumn's beauty - the quotes add a perfect touch. The moisture you capture in the shots emits a lovely earthy fragrance that I can smell here as well - there is much similarity in our autumn views although we are nearly on different sides of this vast country! I love the step photo, but would tread carefully as I have slippery shoes on such surfaces. Happy November Hilary :)

Love these...I always seem to be saying that. The leaves on the windshield, the moisture rising in the fieldand especially the fallen leaves on the wooden stairs. They just say Autumn is here.
