Here's a young one. I think he's got a bit of nest-head happening here.
What's this sparrow peeking at?
Its buddy on the bushes below.
A Red-winged blackbird sitting high atop a branch, singing that beautiful melody. This too, might be one of the many birds that Frank notices first.
A Mourning dove. Never a very bright bird...
... but always beautiful. I love the iridescent gold on its neck.
For all the feeder-raiding these guys do, they might as well be included in a bird post.
Happy 144th Birthday Canada!
This was a scheduled post. I will not be able to return visits for a short because I am away at the cottage or on my way home. I do not have any more scheduled posts but I should be home with a new one soon.

Oh ya... that's a totally rad case of nest head on that young robin! Very comical too!

Great wild life Hilary !
Enjoy your day...
Pierre
The first two images are very special. Thank you.
Love the ruffled feathers in the second shot...how disgruntled does he/she look? ♥
Enjoy your vacation, Hilary! Your bird photos are outstanding. I think the dove looks like it's smiling for the camera. Also, the young robin looks like a punk rock star.
Love the nest-headed robin!! So cute!
Great shots!!
Happy Birthday Canada!!
Have a great weekend Hilary
Hugs

I enjoyed your bird photos Hilary. The robins are nice but give me the sparrows. We have lots of them here and I feed them every morning - Dave
What delightful shots!
Beautiful birds and the photo's, well, up to and over your expected standards, Hilary; I can almost see the mites on that Dove's feathers.
However...A Robin is a small tubby grey/brown bird with bright red tummy and is ours. We lend it to the world for Christmas cards. Your Robin is quite lovely, but cute it 'aint.
Happy Canada Day to you!! And all the birds, too;)
Happy Cananda Day! I like all these shots, I shoot a lot and never have enough. I have been after the robins cousin a Brown Thrush for a few years.See you in a week!
JULY 1: Happy CANADA Day, Hilary, Frank and Benny!
Happy Birthday, Canada! :)
love all your shots - the close-up on the mourning dove is spectacular!!!
Thumbs up as usual.
That's an awesome shot of the young robin with the nest head. And I've never noticed that gold on a mourning dove before. Leave it to you to capture that in a photo. :)
Happy Canada Day, Hilary!
Yes, Happy Canada Day, and thanks as always for the wonderful shots, including that little squirrel at the end!
Beautiful pictures.Mourning doves may not have the bright colors, but they are gores just the same.
good work :)
great bird pics.
Happy Canada Day to you! Excellent shots! What kind of zoom do you have?
Happy Canada Day to you! And that nest headed fowl: maybe his feather's had a party last night - in honor of Canada's day!
Hilary, you make a picture of a Robin look so good. We have many Robins here but they don't look as regal as the one that posed for you.
ha. i love squirrels...nice capture of the plumage in the second pic hilary...hope you have a great weekend...
Love the birds. The photo of the squirrel, the last one, might have been titled "The End."
I can't keep the squirrels out of the bird feeders. I just sigh and fill'em up again.
Happy Canada Day! Nice photos, and those rodents eat more birdseed than the birds...
Love the pics and words, Hilary .. great shots! I'm not seeing a lot of Robins though ... bummer. Love your nest head shot! Happy Canada day!
Loved the robin photos especially. I had a robin's nest in my porch light and so enjoyed watching the progess of my feathered tenants. But I missed them learning to fly and now they're gone.
A blessed and beautiful Canada Day and weekend to you and Frank!
Coming here is like reading a mini National Geographic. I know the photos are always going to amaze me.
Your bird photos are amazing...I love the dove, too.
My daughter has had a ringnecked dove named Bob since she was 14 years old...she's now 35! He's a rascal but he's a good buddy of her black cat, Eva. Go figure!
Happy Canada Day! (late)
Ooooo the young one looks like me in the morning! Scary :)
Hilary, how on earth did you get these photographs? They're amazing.
We have almost no robins in Vancouver this year. They must all be at your place. :-)
Magical - that's all I got. Well that's not true. I always have more. Magical was my first thought when I saw your first picture. I also loved the morning dove...stupendous (SP?)I wish comments had spell check...
Hilary, like you, Frank also has a good eye for what makes a good photo. There is so much life in these photos! How could someone not feel refreshed after viewing them? I want to wish all Canadians a Happy 144th as well. Safe travels and we'll see you soon! : )
great series !! loved the first one
I love all of these photos, Hilary. You and that camera are perfect together. Happy belated Canada Day ~
Your bird pictures are really special, especially that second Robin. Outstanding.
Happy Canada Day a bit belated....the wish is still just as sincere.
I hope to get my act together and get back in the blogging mode.
I have so much to catch up on after 2 weeks of being mostly away.
Great pictures, as always. And Happy Belated 144th Birthday to Canada! As I've said about wonderful people who live in the houses around us, "Good neighbor are priceless." That's true of Canada too. We are very fortunate to have you as our next-door neighbor. :)
Those bird shots are beautiful! I am amazed you managed to capture them like that :)
Blessings,
This Good Life
