Your Favourite Song - a Giveaway!

Yes, it's true. I'm having a giveaway.

The other day, the generous folks over at CSN Stores approached me to provide an item of my choice either for review and to keep, or to offer up as a gift to one of my loyal visitors by hosting a giveaway.

A review was out of the question. It's just not the kind of thing I'd like to do with my blog, but I thought it might be fun to be able to offer a gift to my readers, as a thank you for their many visits and warm comments.

Having never done this sort of thing before, I still wasn't sure. I hemmed and hawed and badgered their representative with a lot of questions, and finally decided to go for it.

I pored over a few pages of options for my giveaway. I saw cookware, dinnerware, wine_racks and gadgets. I was instructed to select something for up to $75 and eventually, I settled on an item which I hope my readers will like.

It's the Euroquest 3 quart stoneware casserole pictured below. You can read more details about it here.

Unfortunately for my many wonderful overseas visitors, this giveaway can only be shipped to Canadian and American addresses. I'm sorry about that restriction but if you can provide me with the Canadian or U.S. mailing address of a relative or friend (excluding yours truly), there's no reason why you can't be included.

Once the contest closes, I'll select one name by random draw.

Here's how to enter:

• The deadline for this contest is Wednesday, December 16 at midnight, Eastern Standard Time. You have until then to enter for this draw.

• Before the deadline, simply leave a comment on this post telling me the name of your all-time favourite song.

• Be sure to leave me your email address so that I can contact you if you should win. I
f you do win, please be prepared to provide me with a mailing address in Canada or the U.S. via email.

• If all goes as planned, the winner will be announced on or before the weekend.

• If I don't receive an email and/or comment reply from the winner within 7 days after that announcement, I'll redraw, and award it to the next name drawn.

The casserole will be sent out to the winner by the good people at CSN Stores.

Good luck to all who enter.

Now tell me.. what's your favourite song?

That's very nice of you to be giving this away! And that's not just the name of my favourite song, but often my state of mind. Hee hee.

You probably knew that!

A wonderful choice, and a really lovely gesture, too. I don't actually qualify, but you've got me to thinking - goodness - ONE favourite song? Blimey, that's a tough one to answer, it kind of depends on your current mood, doesn't it? I guess today it would be "Wild Horses" by Susan Boyle - but it might not be by tomorrow!

Zuzana said...

Ah Hilary, what a kind gesture on your part.;) And you chose a wonderful item as well, this will please the lucky winner.
Of course I am not eligible for your giveaway, but I wish everyone good luck.;)
Have a lovely Sunday my dear friend.

Wow! never heard of this before, what a generous giveaway!
My all-time favourite song??? I have to admit... The Teddy Bear's Picnic!
Ok, everyone, let's sing along...
"If you go down in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise!
If you go down in the woods today
You'll never believe your eyes!
For every bear that ever there was....." etc etc etc.
I loved this song as a child and I still love it, it reminds me of days when we didn't have to worry about guns and knives and bad news and jobs and mortgages ... all we had to do was sing along and play outside with our friends... ah, the good old days! Sigh...

What a beautiful dish! It is almost impossible to pick ONE favorite song. I like so many different kinds of music and so many songs. My favorite song as a kid was Don't Cry Joni by Conway Twitty and it's still one of my favorites, so I'll go with it since I've liked it the longest.

Ooh, how fun! And it's an excellent choice of a prize.

How to choose a favorite song? There are so many!

Kind of obscure, but one that comes to mind is a Mary Black song, "Dimming of the Day," that always makes me cry.

ONE favorite? Are you kidding?!!
Okay, maybe Pachelbel's Canon in D Major, or Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Suagr Plum Fairies. Or The Impossible Dream, sing by Jim Nabors. Or Penny Lane, by the Beatles, of course. Or maybe Love is Blue, by Paul Marriat.
I'm going with Tchaikovsky.

Such a shame I live abroad. I love the colours on that casserole dish.

Ooooohhhhh - that dish would match my kitchen perfectly!!

Picking a favourite song is extremely difficult - there are so many! Errr..... ummmmm.....

"Unchained Melody" Or "Stand By Me".... geez. I can't decide. (This is too hard.) Does that mean I can't win the giveaway 'cause I'm a fence-sitter?

Okay, okay, I'll go with "White Christmas" (but only Bing Crosby's version!)
NO, wait....
what about Joe Cocker's version of "You Are So Beautiful"... or Willie Nelson's "Always on My Mind".... and almost all the music from "Les Miserables".....

Dammit, Hilary! I can't pick just one!

*wanders away, muttering "pick ONE favourite... sheesh...didn't even get to the Golden Oldies like String of Pearls...."

I'm not going to enter, Hilary :-) It's a lovely dish, and a wonderful thing to be doing...but I have a lot of bounty in my life, and I think it's only fair to bow out in things like this.

However, I'm commenting because I was in the midst of bringing you something. One of the blogs I read is the pale observer's, Holli's Ramblings, and today she had a link to the blog of an photographer living in Kenya.

I loved her photographs, and immediately thought of you, with your deep appreciation for imagery. Check it out if you have time, some of the shots are just magical:
