Beneath Your Hat and Posts of the Week.

chapeaus
And all your future lies beneath your hat.
~ John Oldham

D'mar and Gill
"It doesn't matter whether or not you have a head, you must wear the right sort of hat" ~ Kazantzakis

There were a lot of hat-wearers in the crowd at the South Side Shuffle - a blues and jazz festival which is held every year in Mississauga. Members of the band D'mar and Gill were also sporting head-toppers and so was the "dawg" logo.

The whole shadow of Man is only as big as his hat.
~ Elizabeth Bishop

turquoise cowgirl2
Shabby gentility has nothing so characteristic as its hat.
~ Oliver Wendell Holmes
This lady seemed to enjoy steppin' out in her turquoise hat.

sombrero A hat should be taken off when you greet a lady and left off for the rest of your life. Nothing looks more stupid than a hat.
~ P. J. O'Rourke

feather weight
We may say that many, if not all, of the personality traits which we have called masculine or feminine are as lightly linked to sex as are the clothing, the manners, and the form of headdress that a society at a given period assigns to either sex. ~ Margaret Mead

Time for a tip of my virtual hat with the POTWs.

And now, without further delay, here are the Posts of the Week. The icon below is yours for the taking if if your blog post is named as a POTW.

The mad hatters? Well, perhaps not, but hatters nonetheless.

Loved th John Oldham quote. I have a friend by that name, and it is the kind of thing he might say.

Blessings and Bear hugs!

Thank you so much Hilary for suggesting my blog-post. I am glad you felt it was worthy enough to share.
Hugs.

those hats were so colorful. And that lady in Turquoise hat looked like Diane Keaton. Isn't it?

Beautiful sharpness of hats, and thanks for the POTW.

All of these folks look much better in a hat than I do!

TurquoiseCowgirl is one snappy-looking lady. I like her style!

Looks like a fun day all around.

Your photos in this post immediately made me think of "The Daily Prep," but I like you far better. :-)

LOVE those Hats.... my hubs in a big HAT lover :)

Thanks for the POTW honors, Hilary. As always, much appreciated. And I absolutely love the juxtaposition between my sister-in-law's cat and the hero sheltie :-)

Another fine theme, Hilary.

Love the hat pictures, Hilary, especially that pretty turquoise one. Off to visit the POTWs. :-)

Hats are the best. I love me some fine hat.
Thanks for the POTW.

What an inspired theme! Great quotes to accompany the colourful pix, so rich in character (and characters). I recently enjoyed a folk/crafts festival and was also enchanted by the wide variety of hats being worn by the fair-goers. I'm so happy the ubiquitous baseball cap is being replaced these days by more imaginative head gear.
Oh, and I'm throwing my own hat into the air and shouting a big "Hurrah!" for having my post in the POTW ring. Thanks, Hilary.

I like the guitar player's hat. That's the shape I would wear so as not to make my head appear to be a bowiing ball.

Great shot of the stack of hats!

some great photos of great characters... and speaking of characters, some really great picks for POTW! again!

I have a few hats I have procured over the summer looking for a nice straw hat.

i love hats, i buy them but never wear them 'cause as much as i love hats, i hate hat hair ... oh vanity is a tough mistress

Yes, I will, thanks.

RYN: The ruined quilt is on display at the moment. I may take the top layer partially off to see the fabrics that are underneath. Right now, it stirs up conversation as is. :)

The other quilt is just fine and on display too.

I aspire to be able to wear a turquoise hat. Love all the photos (hope the music was as wonderful as the sartorial display).

Thank you so much for the honor.

Wonderful street photography and hats! I especially love the turquoise one. Congrats to all the POTW mentions. I'm going to keep this page in my browser so I can check them out later today.

I have always loved hats; unlike PJ O'Rourke, I guess I don't care if I look a bit stupid! :)

Thanks for the potw! Now I must visit the others.

I wear a hat a lot outside. So my hair almost always looks bad. So then I have to wear more hats. Vicious cycle.

I enjoyed the hat theme. The Blues Fest in Chicago (early in the summer) had a Mississippi stage. I suspect there might have been some of the same performers.
