Beautifully Blue

Aside from a couple of days here and there, I've not spent much time blog visiting. It's been about ten days since I've spent any time up at our new place as I'm still focused on getting the old place ready for sale. We came close last week. The house hasn't been listed yet but my agent had someone in mind whom she thought might be interested. There was a conditional offer which was accepted but he backed out in the end. Back to the drawing board.

Except for this preamble, this post was prepared a while back. I hope you enjoy.

Oh! `darkly, deeply, beautifully blue', / As someone somewhere sings about the sky.
~ Lord Byron

A lone blueberry, sitting atop our deck rail, waiting for someone to come along and claim it.

And this sweet chickadee obliged. But that berry is far too big to fit in its little mouth.

Clever wee thing.

blueboy
Frank happened to notice our pal, the Great Blue heron resting on the neighbours' raft. He looked this-a-way.

blueboy3
And that-a-way.

And then flew off to share his magnificence with nearby kayakers.

patient young jay
A young Blue jay waits patiently for mama to return with a morsel of food.

Do you think mama will share her bounty?

evening view
I can't complete a blue post without showing you the lovely blue skies, late in the day, over Blueberry Island.

More photos coming up soon.

That berry must weigh almost as much as the bird! I am glad she managed it. :-)

I really like all of your blues. The jays hang around here but are not plentiful. You have a beautiful area in which you live.

Every great artist has their "blue" period.....this one of yours is great. Also did you know that 1 out of every 5 people's favorite color is blue? Oma Linda

I remember as a kid what a treat it was waking up to see the sun rise over a lake. Such a special feeling.

Lovely blue images that make me anything but blue. That last one is so idyllic that I may be a little green. ;)

i remember all too well how long/hard the selling process was when we were trying to sell my parents condo .... at least the market is better now than it was back then ... good luck!

I like the themes you've chosen lately...the colors. You are very clever at matching things. And the puppy is on the dock in the last photo!

Anita said...

How nice it is that you have posts stored away for busy times.
I love this "blue" theme. You captured so much in the blueberry that is looks like a rock or a stone.
I'm sorry your house deal fell through. Someone else will come along, so hang in there.

Didn't get the blues from these lovely sights but left here feeling in the pink. Hope you are, too, in spite of the hard work and stress of preparing your house to sell. And of preparing your self to sell the house.

What Rob-bear said. You're amazing.

I can tell you're not blue with all the sights there at the lake. I can't believe the texture you've captured on that blueberry! I sure hope your house sells quickly, Hillary. Good Luck!

Love birds! We have recently have had an influx of baby swallows waiting for food...kind of all over the building and the garages. I just love listening to them and watching them. You are going to love your new place once you finally get to actually spend all your time there. I hope your house sells as soon as it goes on the market! :)

How gorgeous! Hoping you sell your house and soon.

How the heck take a photograph of a BLUEBERRY and end up with something so amazing???

All the rest are stunning too, but seriously, it seems with you it doesn't matter what you photograph, you turn it into art.

Sara said...

I love your photographs. The one of chickadee was adorable. You take beautiful pictures. As I went through them, I laughed and ended up a nice calming sigh at the last picture.

And a Benny cameo. Nice.

Hi Hilary: I feel excited for you on your new journey and feel the house will sell soon! It's been a struggle to get around to everyone, but I am doing so this morning. The last photo is a favorite among so many you feature! Take care and see you soon!

The great blue made me smile. I thought of the high school boys who used to pose on the floats at the lake when I was a kid. "How cool am I?" Their poses said. Maybe they were distant relatives of this guy, though not nearly as handsome.

Good luck with the house!

So lovely! If you came here, I would share the huckleberries that my husband picked last week. They're blue! :)

The right buyer will come, but I know how very hard it is to wait for that person. Hang in there!
