Fun in the Water & Posts of the Week

"He had as much fun in the water as any person I have known. You didn't have to throw a stick in the water to get him to go in. Of course, he would bring back a stick to you if you did throw one in. He would even have brought back a piano if you had thrown one in."
~ James Thurber

It wasn't more than a couple of weeks earlier that parts of the creek were still frozen so this water had to be especially cold. That didn't keep this guy from having fun fetching, shaking and smiling.

Adorable video. I think James Thurbar must have had a special dog in his life. His quotes are right on.

Aww. Bet that dog will not be a go-getter. He will be the plump lover at your feet. Will be back later to read the POTW.

I love to see dogs smiling. It makes ME smile, too. Your pictures captured the sheer joy that dog is experiencing, and I got a contact high. :-)

Love dogs. They are awesome. And I love the quote you have as well. "Dogs are obsessed with being happy." So good.

Oh and thank you for the potw for my silliness:)

Yes! I admit I said "awwww". lol Enjoyed the photos of the chocolate lab as well. They are such fun-loving dogs, completely unfazed by a little cold water. Thank you so much for picking my post for POTW! I really do appreciate it. Hugs!

I envy a dog's ability to show exuberance and joy, both captured so well in your photographs. And thanks as always for the shout out. I really do appreciate it.

Just read yesterday how animals can shake 90% of the water from their coat in one shake and that it's important for them to get dry in a hurry so they stay warm. Your photos reminded me of the piece I read.

Surfacing again, I have to say that Thurber does have it right. No, didn't say awwwwwwwww, but I did say oh, oh, oh. :)

What a great black lab! He is ready for more fun in the water!!

Wow! Thank you for mentioning my blog - that was a nice surprise! Very nice - thank you!!

Take care.

lime said...

oh i keep waiting for that black dog to shake! hehehehe the puppy was adorable indeed.

Great dog pictures. For a moment, I thought the Lab was a Beaver. Then he got out of the water. One of Benji's friends, perhaps?

And the puppy in the video is adorable. Bit of a flopover yet, but working on it.

BTW, where was the picture of Benji in this series?

Blessings and Bear hugs!

Had one dog who mixed up a stick with a log jam and I had a hard time getting him in and not drowning.

Oh my goodness, that puppy video was THE BEST EVER.

I'm often reluctant to click on videos because they take forever, but that was quick and hilarious.

And of course love the photos as well!

My dog doesn't like the water, but when I had a lab, he loved it and always wanted to shake off beside me!

I didn't say "awwh" but I did chuckle. Thanks for sharing.

That dog must l.o.v.e. the water. He does seem to be enjoying it, cold or no.

Thanks, also, Hilary, for your kind words and thoughts.

We used to have a golden/collie mix who lived to play fetch...and dog paddle...and fetch...

I think Pacino has a talent for drama. That additional roll backwards was, indeed, a reason to say, "Awwww." :)

I just came back from The Chubby Chatterbox. What a great laugh I got from his post. Thanks!
