Birthdays, Skateboards and Posts of the Week

Double Birthday Wishes Today:

Happy Birthday to my beautiful big sister, Andrea. Have a great one, Andi!

And Happy Birthday to my oldest online friend, Karen. Party on, Hoobie!

My neighbour bought one of those little finger skateboards for her kids. Her four year old son, Winston soon lost interest in it and went on to do other things. It was then offered to his two year old sister, Lily who gladly accepted the gift.

Having seen others use one, she examined it closely, trying to determine just how to approach it.

And approach it, she did.

It's too small, Mommy. Take it back.

In the meantime, my other neighbour's son, Ryan and his dog Raven knew exactly how to skateboard.

And now, without further delay, here are the Posts of the Week. The icon below is yours for the taking if if your blog post is named as a POTW.

Ryan and his pup have discovered a very good, and relatively safe (I think) use for a skateboard.

Still, I think a helmet would have been good. Or is that a horse-riding helmet?

Great post, Hillary.

Once again, thank you, Hilary, for introducing glimpses of worlds beyond my own horizon!
I only visited Robin so far, but that was already a such a touching experience, thank you! Will come back and visit more of your winners as time allows.
Cheers from a rainy early morning in Vienna,
Merisi

How can Lily be two years old? Wasn't she just a baby last week?
(Love the pic of her foot on the mini-skateboard)

Nothing like a two-year-old to put things in perspective.

I keep wondering if you are going to the lake.

Ha! Of course she needed to put her foot on it! My middle school students love those little skateboards, so in a few years Lily's brother may ask for it again. Something to play with in class...

Thank you for the POTW! I will be sure to visit the others too.

Dear Hilary, what a cutie that little girl is. It must have been amusing to watch her figuring out that mini skateboard.;) You take the best images of kids and for someone who has tried it, I know it is anything but easy.
Thank you for the POTW mention, I got aware by this through lovely comments at my place. What a true surprise and I am so flattered that you liked my writing enough to include it here today.:))
Have a great rest of the week dear friend,
xoxo

I have never heard of a finger skateboard and wouldn't have a clue what to do with it, either--LOL! She's a cutie pie! The boy and dog have the real thing and a great ride. ;)
