I find that yarn you found interesting. I did go back and see the red. Sort of odd.

The yarn is cool. Perhaps it's a present. One Mother's Day my friend's husband and son did some decorating of the woods as part of her gift. They made a tree arch. Then the next year there were all these paper rings around the bridge. I didn't find out for sure if that was another present for her, but it was cool.
Were I a betting Bear, I would think that the string is some early nesting material, given with love and whimsy.

The yarn in nature reminds me of the environmental art of Cristo, only on an intimate scale. Very nice, and thanks for selecting Chubby Chatterbox this week. I'm honored.

How interesting, it seems unlikely the wind caught the yarn up there, it must have been cut to hang this way - I like the thought it's been purposefully laid there for the birds to feather their nests with (smile). Looks like you've found some more good reads for us again!

I think the yarn in the trees could be some lazy girl's approach to yarn bombing. Are you familiar with the yarn bombing movement? "Radical" knitters gang up on unsuspecting objects and surround them with brightly hued knitting. It's supposed to be a form of public art, I think.
Interesting. And somewhat mysterious.
I am sure the person who put the yarn in the tree had an objective. Maybe it is for the birds. Maybe it is just to be decorative. Maybe it is a memorial to someone or something.
We will probably never know the answer but it is interesting to wonder.
Hey, I made POTW! I have to tell you, your pictures of that turquoise yarn have been making me actually go so far as to look at DSLRs online. The thought of laying out so much money for a camera has kept me from purchasing, though. Your pictures are always astounding.

when i was a kid in Wisconsin, i used to loop lengths of yarn on our clotheslines for the cedar waxwings to collect for nesting material. :) thanks for the memory.

Great photos Hilary. We have yarn on a tree in our front yard (red). It is from some sort of bird thing that older boy did for school several years ago.

I just saw a post the other day that showed a beautiful bird nest that someone found that had the most beautiful colors made from string and yarn. I'd be looking for some nests in the future if I was you!

SO .. it seems I dont read very well .. I must learn not to skim. I missed seeing Ray's latest toon get a nod as a POTW. Ray is not here to accept this honor so I am accepting it on his behalf and as the one who must bite her tongue every time he misuses the remote ..
