The flock waddled in to share in the fun.
Milly Mallard says "Flap your wings in the air."
Excellent. Now, stick out your tongue.
Devon Drake, you're out! I didn't say "Milly Mallard says.."
Milly Mallard says "Touch your bill to your tail."
Good enough, Mumford.
Milly Mallard Says "Look to your left."
Good work.
Milly Mallard Says "Show me your best side."
And so marked The End of the game.

Wow - these photos are so adorably playful and charming!
wonderful shots Hillary..... my favorites are
second one- I like the way u captured the motion of the flocks
Third one - Friggin awesome
I guess u've a lot of patience the amount of work involved shows that
What great shots, Hillary. I am constantly learning by reading this blog and trying to figure out how I can replicate your wonderful work!
Is it Millie or Milly? Don't want to create any fowl personality disorder in your visitor!
LOL, I thought you were going to say, "show me your back side".
Very well done.Mallard are super photo subjects.
Wonderful in every way Hilary! Your cute commentary distracted me from the beauty of the photos. I must go back and linger a while to absorb that beauty!
Such agreeable subject you have. How do you get them to do that?! ;)
Whimsical and wonderful.
I love when photos tell a story..
I have a silly bird one like this in the wings as well :).
snort...too cute...i read it to my boys..they loved it...
Great closeups. Do you have a long telephoto lens?
nice shots. I am seeing flocks heading north.
Beautiful ducks.;) I love the third picture where some ducks stand on one leg, never seen that before, I guess they are cold too.;)
Have a lovely Sunday my dear friend,
xoxo
Millie is kind of bossy, don't you think? LOL
Great photos, Hilary!
I agree with Bonnie...I was so absorbed in the commentary that I almost missed the beauty of the photos. The detail in these images is just wonderful.
Absolutely delightful. Excellent pics. Delia Duck's short cut is wonderful.
This is great...your words and these photo's delighted me this morning as they did the little's...such great captures and your creativity with words is purely amazing to me.
Happy Sunday to you. XX
Your photos are incredible.
In fact, incredible isn't a good enough word.
loved the little balls of feathers.
The pics are so darn cute I almost didn't think about how good those ducks would taste. :)
Amazing. Beautiful creatures. I have no idea how you captured them so well. Quite a talent.
this is incredibly clever and adorable. How delightful to watch Millie and her pals play. The Olde Bagg, Linda
Simply delightful. Do I see a children's book in the making? I'm still sitting here smiling.
LOL, TOO cute! Great pics Hilary and you certainly captured the spirit of the game. :<)
Great action story! Excellent photograppy! Hard work!
Terrific way to have people look at your photos.
These are heartbreakingly beautiful, Hillary. The one where she is taking off is just incredible. Have you ever thought about sending your photos to National Geographic?
Another winning photo shoot and "A Star is Born"! I believe Millie Mallard will have a strong fan base if you heed the suggestion one reader put forth. Then you'll have Millie t-shirts, hoodies, school back-packs etc.

Once again -- wonderful! Love the "You're out!" photo!
Such fascinating animals! And the ice on the beak, they are survivors.
Phantastic photos!!!
Love being able to see the such exquisite detail!
However, prior to seeing your play-by-play description, I would've bet money they would have been playing Duck Duck Goose.
(They're probably tired of that one, though...)
Oh my gosh, these are wonderful! Love the third one! Great captured moments!
You have one powerful zoom!! Gorgeous!
These REALLY blew my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aloha from Honolulu
So SORRY I've been missing too long!

Man, I love your photography. The wildlife is always spectacular. And the subjects are always too cute.
I love pausing to enjoy your photos for photos and then for the love they embody. Your shot of Delia stole my heart.
Such wonderful photos, Hilary, and I love the story you tell with them! Great job, thanks for the smiles.
ABSOLUTELY incredible Hillary! HOW do you do this??? Your photos captures are so amazing each and every time. They take my breath away...and it was just a game of Millie Mallard says!
Incredible!!!!!

• Thank you, AC. It's a 70 - 300mm lens and the ducks were fairly close to me. I was sitting on a picnic table and they were wandering around me. Some stayed fast asleep. Thanks for stopping by. :)
• Thanks, Steve. These guys all stay the winter. :)
• Zuzana, thank you. Those ducks might have been walking at the time but just out of view, there were two geese which were balancing on that one foot. Thanks for the kind words. :)

Millie and her badelynge of ducks are playing a similar game to the ones in my park, although mine seemed to be involved in tag and silly flying. Your photos are so crisp and detailed, and a pleasure to view.
Really beautiful images, the first one is my favourite.
You are the total package, lady! Not only a great photographer but with the imagination to use your photos to do clever stories like this. Really, fun, Hilary.
Wow, i can only imagine how hard it must have been getting these shots.
They are incredible
best game of Simon Says according to Millie I've ever played!
Spectacular photos Hilary! It always amazes me how beautifully "painted" the ducks can be; God did good!
i know i've told you before but let me say it again, your shots of birds amaze me, especially the eons in flight. that one with the duck taking off right toward the camera is just incredible.
plus the story to go with them all just quacks me up. ;)
one thing i've always wondered though is how the duck's feet don't freeze in this weather.
Oh my, these pictures are stupendous. Hubby and I have looked at these a few times already and we keep saying you must have a professional type camera and tripod. With out little digital camera we can barely zoom in. This was great fun playing the Millie Mallard Says game.
Best duck photos ever!!!!♥
This was such a delightful post - with a good message. I'd like to nominate it for Post of the Week.

Those are all fabulous! I think I like Delia Duck the best, it looks like she is coming right at you!
Okay, this time you've officially blown my mind. Not just your incredible skill, but the abundant joy in how you express it. LOVE.
Standing on one leg is an absolute necessity when standing on ice, gotta keep that other foot warm.
Once again, your pics are fantastic. If I were redecorating my house again I'd save these for my "inspiration colors". THe mix of browns with the splash of blues and oranges would make for a gorgeous room.
Have a great week, jj
Hilary, Your photography leaves me breathless. I don't think I've ever seen ducks in such detail. I liked the game, too - I was playing along...
Your images are always flawless and creative. Simply gorgeous photos.
These photos are wonderful - the first on is stunning!
That was SO much fun! And you are extraordinarily gifted with your photography. :)
I loved this. So full of light and duck-ness.
:-D
Pearl
These pictures took my breath away! I love them! I especially like the portraits and the one of Delia the duck taking a short cut.
Oh Hilary, this post is terrific. I adore Millie Mallard and her game. It looks like she got lots of cooperation from the flock.
FUN!!
Beautiful shots of the birds. Love the hint of blue in their feathers.
• Glo, they must be feeling the effects of impending spring. They get so silly. ;) Thanks for your kind words. :)
• Thanks, Bob. I'm glad you enjoyed them. :)

• Jane, thank you kindly. Yes, you're so right. They're perfectly beautiful creatures. Thanks for the visit. :)
• Thanks so much, Michelle. I'm so pleased that you enjoy my photos. And your quack up line made me laugh. Apparently ducks don't have nerves in their feet so they just don't feel the cold. But you'd think their underbellies would suffer. Thanks for stopping by. :)
• Technobabe, thank you kindly. I do have a very nice camera, and a zoomy lens. I wasn't using a tripod, but I was seated to take the photos. The ducks weren't too far away, either.. and in a very cooperative mood. Thanks so much for your kind words. They're so appreciated. :)
• Thanks very much, Laura. :)

• Joanna, you're so right. Their feather colours would make for a beautiful colour scheme. Something to keep in mind. Thanks for the kind words. :)
• Welcome, Barb and thank you so much for such kind words. I'm very pleased that you enjoyed the post. Thanks for stopping by. Please return again soon. :)
• Thanks very kindly, Chariskalee. I'm so glad you think so. :)

I just so impressed with these shots that I HAD to see them again!
these are incredible photos... i am in awe. over here from deb's... so glad i came.
Hilary: You are very modest about your talent, but these photos are beautiful! They reminded me of many outings to a man-made lake to toss bread to the Mallards and watch them speed to the droppings!

You captured the beauty of these ducks in all their intricate, subtle colours and markings.
Absolutely stunning, Hilary. And your running narrative punctuates it all.
Millie Mallard says, "You are one amazing photographer, Hilary!"
Delightful post. I love the story line and the photos. This should be a children's picture book!
