As Evening Falls (Summer Shorts 3)

Below are a few more summer shorts for your enjoyment. Please remember to click on each image to enlarge.

A couple of ducks emerge from the light mist which drifts across the pond.

As the shadows lengthen, sunlight dances across the wildflowers and into the cedars.

Lit by the sun, cottony-soft clouds gather in the evening sky.

From opposite directions, rain and sunlight work together to create a perfect rainbow.

An evening walk through the park.

Playing with light - a slower shutter speed catches the lights of a passing car.

Back home, the warmth of a lit candle and a comforting hand.

Again you have captured a feeling. It just dances from the computer right to me. I love how the V's of the ducks direct the eye as they appear from the mist. Beautiful.

Mental P Mama said...

Sigh. And I can hear all the quiet night noises....

Hilary said...

wow! awesome pictures.....love the sunlight dancing one the best!!!!!

SandyCarlson said...

I love the pairings in the first two. As always, I love what you did with light in the others.

Reb said...

Lovely! The cottony clouds and the light in the trees and wild flowers, the warm candle and the caring hand.

Daryl said...

Nice ... clearly you and the new camera are getting comfortable together.

Maggie May said...

I love every shot but especially the last one!

I've been sitting here trying to think of something meaningful and wonderful to say, other than "me likey pictures." Sometimes I am so witless.

blunoz said...

I especially liked the last three night shots here. I can't take night-time photos like that. You'rs are so crisp and colorful in spite of the darkness and long shutter exposure.

MaggieGem said...

You're getting the hang of that camera alright!

Great shots, love the sundancing and rainbow.

Bogey said...

They are all great shots. Did you notice a face in your cloud shot? I can see the vision of an old man. Love the night pics too! They are so hard to do unless you have a good camera which it appears that you do. Thanks for sharing Hillary.

Louise said...

Wonderful photos, but those clouds are amazing!

Phoenix said...

Incredibly beautifully captured! Seeing those shots was like seeing magic!

Beautiful pics. And that evening walk is gorgeous.

Gaston Studio said...

That walk through the park is stunning and very inviting.

Protege said...

Beautiful! This time around I love them ALL! They are like pieces in a story and to take any out would not make the others complete.;)

Molly said...

Love that one of the cedars and wild flowers.....

Nancy said...

These are really wonderful. The lit candle and a caring hand...

kcinnova said...

I love the wildflowers & cedar, but then I got to the last pic, and WOW!

It's really beautiful where you live. I went to photobucket and looked at all of the awards you've been given. There are some really nice ones.

Kerri said...

Lovely Hilary! Love those clouds and the rainbow!!

Tabor said...

So you have reached that Zen where the ducks swim TOWARD you and not away! wow. I find all the photos beautiful and very nicely composed. You are quite talented.

These are all nice shots. Hard to get night shots to look great but you did.

WOW! I can't even decide which one is my favorite. They all look like magic. The second one looks like a fairyland. And the night shot in the park. WOW!!!!

• Thanks kindly, Bubblewench. Much appreciated. :)

• Thank you, Pranksy. I'm very pleased that you're enjoying my photos. :)

• Thank so much, DS. Your always-kind comments mean a lot to me. :)

• Thank you so much for the very kind words, Cloudia. Aloha! :)

• Thanks very much, Sue. When a fine photographer such as yourself enjoys my photos, it sure makes me smile. :)

• MPM, you too? How about the voices? Can you hear them too.. or are they just in my head? ;) Thank you. :)

• Thanks very much, Hilary. I so appreciate your kind words. :)

• Thank you, Sandy. You're comments are always so kind and encouraging. Much appreciated. :)

• Thanks kindly, Reb. I'm glad you like them. :)

• Thanks very much, Daryl. We have our moments. :)

• Thank you, Maggie May. I'm kind of fond of that one myself. That hand belongs to a terrific guy. :)

• LOL, Kate. It's your wit that me likey best about you. ;) Thanks. :)

• Thanks very kindly, Blunoz. For me, night shots are hit and miss.. with far fewer hits than misses. Every now and then I get lucky. At some point, I'll get a tripod and perhaps a little more luck. Thanks for stopping by. :)

• Thanks very much Maggie Gem. Your kind words are so appreciated. :)

• Thanks so much, Bogey. I hadn't noticed the face until you pointed it out. Thanks. :) This camera and I are beginning to get to know one another and we still have a long way to go.. but we're getting there. Thanks for your very kind comments. :)

• Thank you, Louise. I'm not surprised you like that one.. being the fine sky-watching photographer that you are. Thanks so much for stopping by. :)

• Thanks very much, Phoenix. Your kind words are very much appreciated. Thanks for the visit. :)

• Thanks kindly, Leah. I think of you from time to time when taking that walk. I just know that you'd love those cedars and surrounding foliage. :)

• Thank you, Gaston. I'm glad that you could join me on the walk.. if only virtually. :)

• Thanks so much, Protege. I'm glad you enjoyed my photographic story. Your warm comments always make me smile, my friend. :)

• Thanks very kindly, Molly. Much appreciated. Thanks for stopping by. :)

• Thank you L of L/Nancy. I'm glad you like that one.. 'tis my favourite. :)

• Thanks so much, KC. I'm glad that it WOWed you. Your kind comments always do likewise for me. :)

• Thank you, Pouty. I've been gifted with many kind awards which were getting lost down the sidebar - many which have gone unseen because they trailed down past the viewable posts. I saw the slideshow concept on someone's post (I can't remember who) and decided that would keep them all in one visible place quite nicely. Thanks for taking the time to look, and to comment. :)

• Thanks, Kerri. I'm glad you enjoyed those photos.. the ones that tend to make you look up! :)

• Thanks so much for the very kind words, Tabor but as much as I'd like to say "yes" to Zen, I can't. Those ducks are in a very popular neighbourhood park. Although they shouldn't, many people feed the ducks and so they almost always swim toward, rather than away from us - even though all I carry is my camera. :)

• Thank you, Abe. That means a lot to me. It's a good camera, a lot of trial and error and even more luck. You should see all the ones I've deleted. ;) Thanks so much for the kind words.. and Happy Anniversary. :)

• Thank you so much, Kat. I often feel like I'm walking around in a fairy land in that precise location - particularly when the sun is low in the sky.. that magical hour. Thanks very much for the visit. :)
