So this was moving day, last November.
Skitty, being the ever-present doglike cat that he is, was watching closely as the last of my belongings were packed up and disassembled.
Sometimes he watched very closely.
He's not all that easily impressed (he a cat, after all), and at times he was rather bored with the whole process.
Until my bedroom emptied out around him. My bed was taken apart and there was nothing all that recognizable in the room any more.
Then he showed a little bit of attitude. Just who taught that cat to give the finger like that, Alex?
Ultimately, all was well with both felines. They eventually settled into the new place, each taking their spot on the basement sofa. Sweet dreams, guys.
More photos coming up soonish.

Skittles is adorable! Great captures!
He obviously survive the move. That' good. Evn if I say it about a cat.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
Handsome kitty is Skitty.
I love cats. Love the attitude. Love the way they show their independence.
Skitty is very pretty. Love the markings.
delightful story in pictures!
Glad to know they are happy. We are moving to an apt down the hall while work is done in ours, and I'm concerned about dear dog-like Pixie. So you've done me a great service!

What a photogenic cat.
Such beautiful eyes on that cat. I understand that cats do not weather the move well, but yours seem very relaxed about the whole disruptive process.
Each of the photos indicates a cat attitude also very expressive.
Tomás.
All your belongings but the 2 most important were packed: camera and cat :) Wonderful shot of the mighty roar!
What beautiful green eyes! Your shots of the move and Skitty's impressions are wonderful. I love the yawn! :-)
Cat ready to photos!! just click..
pretty cat.
What a beauty . .and bathed in perfect light.
Great photos of your handsome Skittles. Love that last shot of two contented kitties.
Skittles is a beautiful feline. I know how funny cats are about change. Good that he settled for only the one paw salute instead of ripping and shredding like my Sunny Bunny used to. Thanks for the pictorial of your "boys". Oma Linda
Great captures of a wonderfully expressive feline!!
That's a wonderful cat-alog of moving day. That next to the last picture shows what he really thinks about the whole thing. Glad they are settled in. So sweet sharing the couch.
I hate it when a cat flips me a claw.
Hilary, I do so love these photos of Skittles. They remind me so much of my dear Squeak and Sweetie Pie, who had almost identical markings. Thanks for sharing.
Oh SUCH a delight. These are grand pics of your furry kids. I love tabbies. Such sweet faces. I love them all.
Remarkable. You're in the midst of moving and you manage to take some excellent pictures.
laughed out loud on the gesture!!!!
he's a beautiful cat! loved seeing him in all his relocating glory!
It's nice when pets adapt rapidly to new surroundings. :) Love the pics of your kitty kats!
What a sweet kitty – so attentive. Your photos are so clear and good – they are better than the cat photos on my husband’s daily cat calendar – I think you could make a cat calendar that would be a great success.
Skitty reminds me of the kitty Mrs. C. and I purchased shortly after our wedding. His name was Sausalito, after the place we honeymooned, and he was our beloved companion for ten years.
Excellent pussycat photo story.
Hope your transition is going well. Weather/Move wise. :-)
As long as the person they own has settled in, they're good!
You used a neat point of view to describe your move. It sums up your feelings about the move.
such a handsome guy even with the attitude
Ah, cute Skittles.... gotta love a cat with attitude!!
What lovely pictures!! Handsome devil! :)
Hilary, I absolutely LOVE these photographs.
What a little sweetheart.
You have a wonderful weekend!
Beautiful photos! I love his eyes that look like marbles.
Skittles is a beauty and I'm glad they both settled nicely. Your gray one..sorry I've forgotten it's name...looks just like ours! Maybe I should send Squeak to you...???? Oops...don't tell her I said that!
You captured the eyes so beautifully! So sweet the way they're cuddled on the couch. :)
these are wonderful! love the one with the big yawn.
They are such beautiful cats and you could well become a professional photographer!

Nuts in May
Great shots of Skitty
Is the other cat called Skatty but any chance? lol
Like that first picture.... straight into the camera.
amazing post! incredible photos of skitty.
actually i want to just keep that on my clipboard to look at it all day!
big hugs!
Damn fine-looking cat. And, as usual, the detail you capture is magnificent.
hahahaha cat giving you the finger...too funny.....smiles
Great cat shots. They are so sure of what they want and don't want. Fun posting.
Love those green eyes. Very intense. I actually have a photo of a cat that came to visit when I lived in London. He's cleaning his paw, but it totally looks like he's giving me the finger. Can't be a cat unless you have the attitude I suppose.
A CAT........... He has that look. Ah, you love him.
Skittles has such personality. So much fun to play catchup - hope spring is now catching up with you!
Adorable!
Love the catitude! Glad they've settle into their new digs without throwing a hissy fit.
Skittles is a very expressive cat! Love the "finger". Ha!

The last shot supports their role there in my eyes--supervisors for sure.
I think cats adjust to moving rather quickly.
Dang it, you are making me want a Cat again. Can you guarantee it will always be handsome and beautifully lit and adorable like yours?
(I have to remind myself: no cat box or barf pictures were included)
I think I will continue to enjoy vicarious cat ownership, so thanks for the beautiful photos!

Such gorgeous shots!
A new home takes some getting used to. And a home wouldn't be a home without our feline friends.
Skittles does not look too stressed out by the move!!! Great expressions!
Skitty has the most beautiful eyes - like marbles. (Is that why they call them "cat's eyes?) Also, he's VERY expressive.
Whoa! That yawn.
It almost popped out of the screen as I scrolled up.
Regarding you comment about Roman Shades. They can be well constructed and can be used for sliding glass doors...either as one single shade or two. This is not unusual. Mine are commercially made, so not sure that it could be done outside the factory and still hold the weight and shape.
Oh, how I loved this post! Mr. Skitty looked downright perturbed about the packing and moving. I'm not surprised at all that he showed you the tricky finger taught by your son.
Glad to see how nicely both kitties settled into their new place.
I think cats are harder to resettle. We're going away for a week to Vancouver and have to board them. We couldn't find a house sitter. It's going to be brutal!
4 cats = $53/day.
But my son is getting married. It's going to be a tough go for the felines!
Oh, yes. They are beautiful cats, too!
