As usual, I'm nowhere near my new place yet.
Construction is going on without me. Fishing is happening without me. Autumn is evolving without me. And Frank is enjoying life up there without me.
My city house has been on the market for less than a week. There's been a fair bit of interest and I'm hopeful that things will move along before too long. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I very much want to go home.
The following photos were taken when I was up there in the summer. I hope you enjoy them.
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore. . . .
I hear it in the deep heart's core.
~ William Butler Yeats
Benny is enjoying his life at the cottage. As long as we can present a good throwing arm, he'll provide the fetches.
In the water, on one side of the dock, these weeds are growing tall.
They produce a pretty purple flower called Pickerelweed.
Other pretty garden flowers attract our beautiful hummingbirds. Of course they enjoy the feeders also.
This little guy must have been fed regularly around here. I bent down to tie my shoe, one day, and he suddenly appeared between my feet and rested his two front feet on my hand. He looked me right in the eye as if to ask where the munchies are. I had to oblige him, eh?
Of all strange creatures to rest upon the sliding door glass. This appears to be a miniature crustacean of some sort. He was clinging to the glass after a rainfall. It was about the width of a tomato seed and twice as long.
This is a late-day glimpse of the island across the bay.
And just a little bit later, the last reflective light of the sun paints the sky with a kiss goodnight.
More photos coming up soon.

Lovely photos! Benny looks so happy! Good luck on selling your house.
Chipmunks are so skittish! Hope he isn't so carefree with Bennie.
Here's to the right buyer coming along SOON!
I've been the seller and I know how frustrating the wait can be... hang in there, Hilary.
I hope your home will sell quickly so that you can be with your love full-time.
Fantastic series!
The shot of mountain with its reflection is too good.
Hope your sale happens soon.
I can tell I'm going to get very fond of that hill.
Wishing your house will find just the right buyer, and soon!

I hope you can sell quickly because I would be pining to get back to that gorgeous place as soon as possible!
I just realized what a Benny deficit I have been having, when I saw that picture. I love the tame little chippy, too. Of course you had to oblige! Lovely pictures, and my fingers are crossed for you, Hilary! :-)
awww how sweet on the interaction with the little chipmunk....smiles....i would have had to as well....smiles...
The hummingbird and the golden light on the island are favorites here. I do hope that you'll soon be able to join Frank (who, I'm sure, is NOT enjoying life at the lake without you).
i have no doubt you miss being there!!! such sweet beauty! i hope, hope, hope your place will sell quickly! that chipmunk is waiting for you!
Critters can become, if not tame, at least used to us and they know who will be nice and who won't. Praying your house sells so you can go home!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a qualified buyer scoops up your house quickly so you can hit the road to your little piece of paradise.
I will add to the other a wish that your house sells quickly!
What does Benny think of the chipmunks?
That thing on the window looks like something visitors from outerspace left behind!
Ahh, that was lovely.
The chipmunk stole my heart! What a view from across the bay. I hope your house is sold soon. I know you are ready to close this chapter and start writing the new one.
Well, I'm not OVERLY enjoying myself.
I mean, how could I - with no one to tell me to do this, or not do that, or do it a different way or that doesn't belong there?
Plus, you cuddle better than Ben.
;)
Buying/selling houses is nerve-wracking. I hope that moves along quickly and that you can join Frank and Benny soon. What a gorgeous place!
Do you think that little critter on your window is an insect nymph/baby of some sort? I wonder. It does look like a crustacean!
You are going to live in paradise!
I hope it is soon!
Gorgeous photos and the macro crustacean makes me think of "raining cats and dogs".
I know that's weird but who knows what rains from the skies nowadays...(:0)
careful that thing looks evil ... and i thought if it flowers, its not considered a weed ....
Thinking of you and hope the house sells quickly. It's no fun being separated due to a house sale... been there done that a few times. xox
Wow, you photos have a way of making me happy in a way I can't explain. Like so many commenter before me, hoping a buyer will come soon. I am hoping this for both of us. I've had my on the market since May. However, we aren't quiet ready to move completely into the other one.
Lovely shots, you have found a very nice area to enjoy
I can see why you would be pining to go back to this scenic spot, Hilary. My fingers are crossed for you. The lake reflects the beauty around it.
to glorious for words and that Weed is what we call water hyacinth...it grows in our ponds and lakes and I have pots of them in water around the house...love your camera work. I hope the house sells soon so you can go home!
hugs
Sandi
HOme is always where the heart is...so hangin there. Could that little nymph be dragon fly larva?
It is so easy to ponder, at length, these beautiful photos. I love the details and such clarity. What a fine eye! Oh, and Mr. Kissable, just look that that smile on his fuzzy, sweet face!!!
Yay, it's Benny, and having a grand time, I see.
I love the sunlight on the island. That is just gorgeous.
The little crustacean on your door is certainly curious...quite out of his normal environment.
Hope your house sells soon so you can enjoy your new place.
Sending you positive vibes for a bidding war on your property!!!
Beautiful pics from a slice of heaven. :)
As always - such wonderful shots.
Hope you get your house sold soon!
Did anyone tell you what that critter on the glass was? Goodness. And as usual, there are some lovely images here.
I don't know how you can stand to be away from such a beautiful place! I'll keep my fingers crossed for a quick sale! The hummingbird shot is amazing! The chipmunk one is adorable!
I'll tell you what...your lake views are the nearest thing to heaven itself.
Beautiful photos!
Have a nice day! RW & SK
Beautiful images, but, I do love the Chipmunk, fantastic Hilary.
What a beautiful blog, a handsome JRT ( I have 3) and thank you so much for posting info on the other Hilary! Oh and the chipmunk, how could I forget the adorable chipmunk. Good luck with the house sale. May it go high and fast! :)
Beautiful set of your photographs, specially i like the 1st photo..
Our chipmunks are so spoiled they don't even have to collect their own acorns. We do it for them. And they love the sound of corn being shelled onto the deck. They come running. So cute.
Yes, I would want to go home too. Can't the realtors show the house without you?
I think Tabor may have the right idea. I was thinking some sort of insect larva, myself.
Catching up here, Hilary, and such a nice post as usual--very refreshing. I too have my fingers crossed and feel good about the prospects for your home to be sold to a new owner. Hang in and have a wonderful weekend! :)
Love that you will have a resident pet chipmunk when you finally get to go home!
Best wishes for a quick and profitable sale.
Benny!!
