I Hear Lake Water Lapping

As usual, I'm nowhere near my new place yet.

Construction is going on without me. Fishing is happening without me. Autumn is evolving without me. And Frank is enjoying life up there without me.

My city house has been on the market for less than a week. There's been a fair bit of interest and I'm hopeful that things will move along before too long. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I very much want to go home.

The following photos were taken when I was up there in the summer. I hope you enjoy them.

I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore. . . .
I hear it in the deep heart's core.
~ William Butler Yeats

Benny fetches
Benny is enjoying his life at the cottage. As long as we can present a good throwing arm, he'll provide the fetches.

water leaf
In the water, on one side of the dock, these weeds are growing tall.

purple weed flower
They produce a pretty purple flower called Pickerelweed.

humm
Other pretty garden flowers attract our beautiful hummingbirds. Of course they enjoy the feeders also.

friendly chipper
This little guy must have been fed regularly around here. I bent down to tie my shoe, one day, and he suddenly appeared between my feet and rested his two front feet on my hand. He looked me right in the eye as if to ask where the munchies are. I had to oblige him, eh?

crustaecion on glass
Of all strange creatures to rest upon the sliding door glass. This appears to be a miniature crustacean of some sort. He was clinging to the glass after a rainfall. It was about the width of a tomato seed and twice as long.

golden hour blueberry island2
This is a late-day glimpse of the island across the bay.

sunsetting2
And just a little bit later, the last reflective light of the sun paints the sky with a kiss goodnight.

More photos coming up soon.

I've been the seller and I know how frustrating the wait can be... hang in there, Hilary.

I just realized what a Benny deficit I have been having, when I saw that picture. I love the tame little chippy, too. Of course you had to oblige! Lovely pictures, and my fingers are crossed for you, Hilary! :-)

The hummingbird and the golden light on the island are favorites here. I do hope that you'll soon be able to join Frank (who, I'm sure, is NOT enjoying life at the lake without you).

Critters can become, if not tame, at least used to us and they know who will be nice and who won't. Praying your house sells so you can go home!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a qualified buyer scoops up your house quickly so you can hit the road to your little piece of paradise.

I will add to the other a wish that your house sells quickly!

What does Benny think of the chipmunks?

That thing on the window looks like something visitors from outerspace left behind!

Ahh, that was lovely.

The chipmunk stole my heart! What a view from across the bay. I hope your house is sold soon. I know you are ready to close this chapter and start writing the new one.

Well, I'm not OVERLY enjoying myself.

I mean, how could I - with no one to tell me to do this, or not do that, or do it a different way or that doesn't belong there?

Plus, you cuddle better than Ben.

;)

Buying/selling houses is nerve-wracking. I hope that moves along quickly and that you can join Frank and Benny soon. What a gorgeous place!
Do you think that little critter on your window is an insect nymph/baby of some sort? I wonder. It does look like a crustacean!

You are going to live in paradise!

I hope it is soon!

Gorgeous photos and the macro crustacean makes me think of "raining cats and dogs".
I know that's weird but who knows what rains from the skies nowadays...(:0)

Wow, you photos have a way of making me happy in a way I can't explain. Like so many commenter before me, hoping a buyer will come soon. I am hoping this for both of us. I've had my on the market since May. However, we aren't quiet ready to move completely into the other one.

Yay, it's Benny, and having a grand time, I see.

I love the sunlight on the island. That is just gorgeous.

The little crustacean on your door is certainly curious...quite out of his normal environment.

Hope your house sells soon so you can enjoy your new place.

Our chipmunks are so spoiled they don't even have to collect their own acorns. We do it for them. And they love the sound of corn being shelled onto the deck. They come running. So cute.

ellen abbott said...

Yes, I would want to go home too. Can't the realtors show the house without you?

Suldog said...

I think Tabor may have the right idea. I was thinking some sort of insect larva, myself.
