Morning Has Broken

The Sunrise. What a way to start the day. How would you like to start a few of them with me?

The following images were taken on various mornings during the first two weeks of August while I was at my new place.

morning peachy gold
Morning has broken, like the first morning.
Cat Stevens

rising sun 6
Know where to find the sunrise and sunset times and note how the sky looks at those times, at least once.
Marilyn vos Savant

rising sun
Woke up from another dream
With the clouds in my head
Sat down by the window
Watched the sunrise burning red
George Weiss - Blue Rodeo

sunrise again
Climb up on some hill at sunrise. Everybody needs perspective once in a while, and you'll find it there.
Robb Sagendorph

early morning golden mist2
There's never one sunrise the same or one sunset the same.
Carlos Santana

magenta sky
And then I saw the sunrise above the cotton sky like a candycane delight.
Gordon Lightfoot

mornign peachy gold
It's another tequila sunrise,
stirrin slowly across the sky
Don Henley - Eagles

rising sun 10
The biggest cliche in photography is sunrise and sunset. (oh well!)
Catherine Opie

morning has broken3
And here is a sunrise to set on your sill
The ghosts of the dawn moving near
Dan Fogelberg

Thankfully, sunrises begin much later in the morning for the next several months. I need to get my city house sold and go back so I can enjoy them.

There's something magical about the combination of light reflected on water. Fabulous pictures.

It's really gorgeous there. Wish you much luck in selling the house in the city... not sure what your real estate market is like there, but here a house sale can take more time than some people even like to consider. Not to worry.... someone will fall in love with your house. xox

So beautiful there. I would actually look forward to being a morning person with that view available.....
The photos are each so lovely. Our mountains are to the east here and so our sunrise is sorta anticlimactic but the sunsets...now that's a different story.
Hope your city house sell quickly and that you can become..settled. I know that would weigh heavily on my being. Oma Linda

Hilary, it would be hard for me to not be at this spot every morning and evening. What a view. I'm so happy for you!! Beautiful....

Hilary, those are all beautiful! My first and second favorites are "morning has broken" and "tequila sunrise". You should make those into prints and frame them. Just gorgeous!

Sunrises like this could make a morning person out of even me. :)

When are you going to find time to make coffee? Gorgeous!!

How fortunate for you. One of my gripes in life is how restricted JQP is to some of the finer views that life has to offer. Not that I begrudge anybody, but I sure wish there was more public access.

Awesome photos. it's your quotes that are amazing. all these performers are favorites of mine. Cat Stevens? how I wish he'd continued his music.

These are all beautiful. No two sunrises are the same--true!true! You have a gorgeous view. Hopefully you'll be back there soon for good and all. :)

Phooey on Catherine Opie. I hope to see more of these as you settle in. :)

Ms. Opie is a snob, and has no soul.
I love sunrises and sunsets, for the reason Carlos Santana cites.

I am still in awe of how you and Frank lucked up with that property! Your photos of its pleasures are starting out nicely.

Forgot to say, I am a fan of the genius, Marilyn vos Savant. You always find the best quotes and write really good captions, yourself.

Your place on the lake is so wonderful. It looks like it sits on the perfect sight for great lake views. Wonderful shots.
