A Series of Wonders

I'm back up at my new place for a few days. This time my older son, Jeffrey is with us. He's home on leave for a couple of weeks so of course, he had to come see the place. It's so nice to be with my boy.

Nature was here a series of wonders, and a fund of delight.
~ Daniel Boone

just before dawn
Shhh... it's just before daybreak. The sky is beginning to lighten but there are still some stars in the sky. A gentle mist is drifting across the lake. What a sight to see upon awakening.

peaches apples toms
Apples and nectarines in one bowl - tomatoes in the other. Sunlight basted evenly on both.

rising sun feathers
While snapping a few photos of the rising sun, a tiny hummingbird flew into the glass. It was a gentle impact and it quickly flew away again, seemingly unharmed. But it left its calling card behind - a few of its minuscule feathers.

lure
A the day lightens up, a fishing lure awaits employment. Its task was to catch tonight's dinner. Epic fail. I suppose it might have done better if it had actually been cast into the water...

waspnest
Frank found this tiny wasp's nest on the deck, one day. Such a perfect creation for such little creatures. I'm just as glad that it was abandoned though. I had a bit of fun playing with desaturating the colour from my hand, but not from the nest.

skitty boy
And this beautiful wonder is my Skitty boy. He's not up at the new place yet but rest assured that he and Zephyr will be joining us when I'm there full time.

evening view3
And another wondrous day is nearly done.

More in a few days.

The first photo leaves me dumbstruck. When you have time, please give me a lesson on how to get a photo like that...other than moving to Canada. :) Even the stars are so clear, and nothing is overexposed. How do you do it, girl?

Sorry about the hummingbird and we have had that problem here. Time for window decals as the next crash may not be so mild. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. You make photography look so easy...just pure talent.

Oh, also wanted to add that you need to give your son a big hug from me, because I know how absolutely, deliriously, happy you are having him close right now!

Neat photos Hilary. Your new home is so close to nature.

You are ever the one with the best of talents. We are so fortunate to get to share. I wish you well with your sale and move to this paradise. Oh, the tabby is sooooo darling. So kissable! Speaking of........how is the Bennster? Keep on keepin' on, Hilary, your words and photos are "beyond Zebra" (as Dr. Seuss would say).

I was thinking about you this morning when at 5:45 we were outside admiring a pink, gold and wonderful sunrise over the mountains. We usually don't have clouds that early in the morning but Mother Nature just needed to show off and we took it as the gift of the day. I only wish I could capture the moments half as well as you do. Oma Linda
psssssst...the kitty picture made me swoon.

I came from Linda's site and I'm glad I did. I love your photos and enjoyed joeh's comment as it fits me...LOL I don't see too many sunrises. However, these pictures make want to.

I love the picture of the hummingbird feathers and the pinkish-red light reflected in the window. If you hadn't told me it was a window, I would have just thought the feathers were floating in the air. Lovely image and I'm very pleased the hummingbird flew off.

However, my favorite one is the one of Skitty. If I didn't know better, I would think you took a picture of my cat, Aggie. It's amazing how much they look alike. As Aggie was adopted, who knows...maybe they are related. She'd like to have a brother. Well, at least I think so.

You're an amazing photographer. I am definitely "smitten" with your images:~)

Oooooo! I felt like reaching into the picture and grabbing one of those yummy apples.

I found one of those itty bitty wasp nests in my gas tank the other day. It didn't find that especially heartwarming though.

Hilary, I feel like I have been transported to a magical land.
You have purchased Paradise!
Love every photo, especially the artistry of the hummingbird feathers.
Fruit basted in the morning sun...beautiful!
Enjoy your time with your son. I'm so glad he can come and see your new home.

So glad that you will be able to spend time with your son. Nothing makes a Mama's heart any happier than being with her children...no matter how old they are.
Your photos are inviting to all of my senses. The warm light on the fruit...beautiful, Hilary.
The tiny feathers on the window (I can almost hear the li'l bird hitting and thankfully flying away from the pane.) We have hummers; they are resilient and aggressive little birds, aren't they? I love 'em.
I smiled at the un-cast lure. Yes. Hard to catch that fish with a dry lure, but it made for a beautiful work of art for me to enjoy today. Thank you for that.
I am always amazed at the precision with with bees construct their nests. Looking at the pattern and the exactness with which they work, underscores the presence of our Mighty Creator.
And...your fur babies. I know that you miss them and can't wait to have them snuggling up to you in your new home. They will think they are in kitty paradise when they arrive.
Sending you smiles, Hilary.

Your photos continue to amaze and delight us, and as beautiful as the scenery is, I particularly love the picture of Skitty. But then most of the pictures I take are of my cats.

Glad to see Sara visiting here. As she said, her cat, Aggie looks a lot like Skitty.

Each day is a new picture!

I want to plant my feet on that dock and never leave. Your previous post had the most amazing pics...but the wasp nest was the best! Hope you can be there permanently soon and we can enjoy the sights!
