Leaning Toward the Sunlight

I was a vegetarian until I started leaning toward the sunlight. ~ Rita Rudner

Come take a look through early spring with me. Yes, I know, it's not even spring here anymore. But it was when I took these photos and what else would I do with them if not show them to you? Exactly!

living room in morning
The sun shone brightly that morning but it was deceiving. The light screamed "spring" but the temperatures screamed "button up your jacket!"

lost mitten
It also told me that someone's little hand was cold without their mitten. That mitten is no longer there but was on that branch for a long time, waiting for its rightful owner. The branch is a lot leafier now though.

dam chair
I can't imagine what transpired in order for this chair to fall over the dam. You can see its seat over to the middle left of the image. Quite likely it was out on someone's curb waiting for trash pickup and somebody tossed it into the pond where it eventually made its way over the dam. Okay, so I guess I can imagine what transpired here.

fungi2
Warm or cold, the sunlight still makes this fungus looks lovely in its glow.

garlic
And where there are mushrooms, there's garlic - at least in many of my favourite meals. These buds were just a little bit over-exuberant. Despite the netting which surrounded them, they saw the spring light and began sprouting.

chair
Sunlight gives life and warmth to a lot of things and wood is certainly among those.

cribbage score
Settled in for the day, this is Frank's hand as seen through his beer glass. He's writing my winning cribbage score down in the notepad. Okay, so I don't really remember if I won that game. Let's just say that I skunked him and call it a day.

I apologize for my sporadic visits. Getting my home ready for sale is really cutting into my online time. I so appreciate your comments when you stop by like this. I'll get back into more regular visits of my own once the summer sees me in my new home. Until then, I thank you for your understanding.

Thanks always for joining me. More photos coming up soon.

I love the light and shadows.
This time of year seems to keep so many of us busy with family and forever cutting grass. I love the weather. Happy July

I like how you did these these photos in different lighting conditions. At times, lighting can be a challenge.

Oh, the light is so lovely in your shots!

Now that last photo is inviting! :) Great shots and good look with getting you house in order to be sold and all the transitions that go with it.

Oh, that first picture is just so perfect. You need to frame that one and hang it on a wall in your new home. :)

There is no light like early morning light. And the beer makes me want one, even at first light! :-)

Only someone with your artistic skills could mesmerize us with a picture of fungus.

Well, i'm perfectly willing to see past pictures for a while as you move -- i'm just so tickled that you've found a place!

Really enjoyed this light-hearted celebration of light and the coming of spring. It encourages me to see you making good use of the images you've gathered, even if they are out of sync with the present day season. Yes, they certainly are worthy of being shared. I can only admire you for being able to get anything at all winged up here, in the face of such a major life event you're undergoing. Bravo Hilary!

Really lovely assortment of photos. The chair--I immediately thought of it falling off a vehicle in a move. But then, there may not even be a road close to the dam. I have just had not so bright guys help me move and have lost wooden chairs in moves before. *sigh*

Looking forward to your move and pics of the new place!! :)

Beautiful photographs.
I always enjoy looking at your works of art. You are so good with that camera...

No worries, Hilary! I was away 8 days and it took 9 frantic days to just get caught up. My blogging has been more sporadic than yours. My new camera was shipped back to Canon for a repair or replacement due to a moisture spot. Just the same, I look at your photos and grow from the grace of your comments and sensitivity to themes. You're a great influence!

Love your photos as always. Hope you will post some pictures of your house remodeling. We are trying to sell ours as we remodel the other and ours needs some fixing up itself.

you captured some delicious shadows!
love the mitten, it almost looks like a flower

Sharon Wagner said...

That is either a mitten or a well worn scratchy pad. I suddenly feel like I should do my dishes. Or not.
Happy 4th Hilary!

6 years ago we did the same thing.

The chair on the dam is such a wonderful composition that it took several seconds for my Chair Rescue impulse to kick in. But it's too far away in both place and time for me to save it.

I am, as usual, entranced by the detail in your work. I've said this many times before, but it always bears repeating: You are my favourite photographer.

(I added the "u" just for you!)

I bet... Frank doesn't get skunked too often. :)

Great photos. I enjoy playing cribbage, but can only play it on the computer, as Hubs doesn't know how to play.
