Faces

Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.
~ Fred Rogers

There are quite a few adorable, young faces in my neighbourhood. Here are just a few of them.

lily anyone

for tennis
Lily is challenging you to a game of tennis. Do you accept?

lily and lincoln b&w
Game over, Lily rides off into the sunset with her Prince Charming - Lincoln.

tyler b&W
Lincoln's big brother, Tyler, wide-eyed over the young twosome.

winston on

wheels
Lily's older brother, Winston was busy riding up and down our dead-end street on his fancy wheels.

Riley

guy
Riley almost always has a smile on his face.

moma squirrel
Another neighbourhood cutie, Momma Squirrel watches the action from above.

benny bandana
Looking for a little action of his own, Benny is all dressed up and ready to hit the town.

zephyr bandana2
Not to be outdone, Zephyr sports the same stylish accessory. What a copy cat!

moochers
My son's lovely girlfriend, Veronica is quite popular at our house around meal time. Somebody needs to teach those creatures some manners.

My postings and visits have been in a bit of a lull lately - which may continue for a while. I'll post when I can and likewise for the visit. I'll get back on track eventually but in the meanwhile, I'm away from home (usually at Frank's) more often than not. Thanks for your kind understanding.

Riley looks like quite a character. Someone from a Norman Rockwell painting.

My fav was Veronica. I was told when one looks at children like you have it is a grandparent thought.I thought it was wanting to be a parent again. After a few days with the grandkids I realize my role.

What a pretty dress Lily is wearing for play. You've captured all the kids beautifully. And momma squirrel. And Benny, of course. But the picture of poor Veronica surrounded by begging pets is priceless. I hope the bandaid on the finger wasn't due to an injury from one of her dinner companions.

Quite a busy and bustling neighbourhood. Families bring a neighbourhood to life.

Well captured, Hilary!

You have a gift for making the mundane interesting with your photos and descriptions.

Trust me, cats do have manners -- their own! And those include insisting that all human servants share everything with them.;)

Lovely children, lovely photos.

I always enjoy your pictures, no matter how long passes between them. And if there are pictures of Benny, all the better! Hugs to you, Hilary! :-)

Watch-out Veronica, they may look cute and innocent but they're planning an attack on that plate!

Love the cuties in your neighbourhood, and always enjoy Bennie but did realize you had cats too, very cute cats I might add.

All are great, but the last especially made me smile. Our cat, Puff, does that to us if we're eating in the living room. He's such a puss. :D

Those children are adorable. You captured them perfectly. Always nice to see Benny's happy face. Veronica is quite lovely, I must say! The animals gathered close at mealtime is exactly the way it is in our house and is not likely to change. :/ Enjoy your time away from blogland. I've been there and totally understand.

Your cat looks identical to my cat. I would bet that your cat is much nicer than mine. The kiddos pics are so sweet but I do love the guy with the big smile and the fun hat!

Thank you for the lovely quote from my hero, Mister Rogers! What a great shot of Veronica and the creatures trying to mooch from her plate :-)

It's not every day we are treated to a lovely shot of Zephyr! All 3 pets are adorable (I'm guessing that Veronica thinks so, too). And now I am left wondering where the time has gone, for weren't Winston and Lily little babies just yesterday?

our first cat Sans had a bandana like that and when she wore it she preened and answered to the name Tex .. i swear!

Haha! That last picture is hilarious! Love it!

Definitely cute kids ad cute animals too.
Enjoy your respite from blogging.
It often recharges the batteries.
I have a lot of catching up to do too.
Life seems to have gotten in the way of this dang computer.

Here I was, wandering down the splendid-as-usual pictures, admiring each one, thinking that I thought you lived in the country, and kaboom. There was that last one. I could not believe that animal family. The one over here shoulder reaching for her hand, the giant eyes waiting to pounce on the floor, and the wistful person actually making it into her lap.

You've caught some lovely faces in all those photos but I think the winner this time round, has to be those expectant faces when your son's lovely girlfriend was trying to eat. I don't expect she got very much of it, did she?

Thank goodness Veronica doesn't suffer from dog and cat allergies!
Nice child photos. I've been trying to capture good pics of my little grandies and it's hard to take a good picture. They are always moving, blinking, falling down, crying, yawning....

Beautiful, gorgeous pictures of those children. I do hope you give their parents a print. They are treasures. Your son's girlfriend is very pretty as well.

Hello Hilary,
Funny shots of all the kids.
The shot of the girl with her delicious food is fantastic. Because it's so funny to see the eyes of the dog and cats to the food.

Many greetings,
Marco

These are wonderful, Hilary!
I especially love the second one.
They are just precious.
Happy Sunday to you, my friend!

That last shot is Hilarious!
When we sit down to dinner at our house and the dogs come running my hubby always says "the sharks are circling" - your shot reminded me of that :)

The shots of the children are Super! You do such a good job with PEOPLE! I need to learn to take people shots!

Very cute photos. The children look bright, and the animals seem very happy.

My cats attack our guests with kindness as well. Our last cat was mean and scared with company around. Now our new cats are super friendly and annoying. I'm not sure what is worse.

Friko said...

Wherever you are have a good time. And continue to take good photos. Love the kids.

lovely portraits all. riley looks like a sweet guy. i think his smile juxtaposed with the angry bird t-shirt is amusing.

Sweet portraits of neighborhood kids, and Veronica looks calm, surrounded by cats who want her food and attention.

Those kids are precious, but that last photo is priceless!! Enjoy yourself! We'll miss you, but glad you're enjoying life (we know we'll benefit eventually!)

In all fairness to Zephyr and Bennie, they do look like they are minding their manners with kind facial expressions, Hilary! : )

Lovely people-shots, Hilary. As amazing as you are shooting nature, I'm excited about the portraiture...just another angle to your remarkable view of the world.
