Recipe for Sunshine

Take one post-rain puddle.

water pal Benny Add a crazy, little Jack Russell Terrier.

girl Pour in a cute little girl with colourful rubber boots. Mix well.

water pals5 Sprinkle with giggles.

water pals4 Add generous measures of smiles.

water pals3 Mix with a few splashes.

water pal Benny2 Taste as you go.

water pals Fold in a couple of playful barks.

water pals6 And some tail wags.

water pals2 Sample often and season to taste.

splash me
Cut into bite-sized servings.

cuties Enjoy!

Makes enough sunshine to serve all who stop by.

I have no idea who this little girl is. She was out walking with her grandfather, who spoke very limited English. The child never uttered one word the full time that she engaged in this little water dance with Benny. There was the occasional giggle, splash or questioning bark from Benny, but no words. They connected and played together for about five minutes and then each moved on with their day.

Priceless - kids, even quiet ones, and dogs make connections we often overlook. What a wonderful slice of a day to share with us!

Awww, these reflective photos are brilliant Hilary! At first I thought the top photo of Benny was a photoshop one, but you disproved that with the rest of them. Truly excellent photos. That little girl completes the scene - Dave

This series is utterly precious. I love how Benny appears to follow her every move - what a beautiful pairing, no, words are completely redundant, aren't they? They have their special language all of their own.

You didn't know her! I was thinking how cute she is and how fashionably dressed, and that you were fortunate to have such an adorable person in your life.

Actually, she 'was' in your life, if only long enough to produce these lovely images.

I like the reflections in the water.

Ah, yes. But make no doubt, Hilary. A connection was made.

Spelndid photos as always. Have a nice weekend, my friend! :)

What a perfect vignette! I'm just surprised to see Bennie with all of his feet grounded. Usually he's airborne ;) Your photos prove that words are often unnecessary when sharing a wondrous moment.
