Recipe for Sunshine
Take one post-rain puddle.
Cut into bite-sized servings.
Makes enough sunshine to serve all who stop by.
I have no idea who this little girl is. She was out walking with her grandfather, who spoke very limited English. The child never uttered one word the full time that she engaged in this little water dance with Benny. There was the occasional giggle, splash or questioning bark from Benny, but no words. They connected and played together for about five minutes and then each moved on with their day.

A simple puddle sure put some happiness into the little girls life.
Such sweetness in this post :) I LOVE it!
Priceless - kids, even quiet ones, and dogs make connections we often overlook. What a wonderful slice of a day to share with us!
Good old Benny, he knew who would play with him. Good story Hilary.
Wonderful post and photos. Made me smile all the way through to the end. :-))))
Just lovely. I hereby give you the POTW award........no matter what you say.

How COOL that you were there, camera in hand, to capture those sweet moments! Love that!
that's a recipe even I could make ... lovely photo story, Hilary
I just LOVE any pictures of Benny, but these are particularly sweet, with the added little pink playmate. And the reflections.

This was great! Glad you caught their brief time together. *smiles*
magic!
I love that about being a kid. You didn't need words, and another species was just another kid. Great fun shots.
Absolutely precious! Love those boots of hers!
Inspired reflections.
Some of the best communication is wordless. Play doesn't need talk. Great pics.
just love the reflections and of course your recipe!
This is a masterpiece to get that many shots from the same little puddle that keeps on reflecting. Great eye and story.
Just wonderful!
Is Benny the "Whispering Dog"? He found a connection with this beautiful child and shared some love.
Super series of reflections. Just super.
Wonderful, colourful series of reflections, and you are right a perfect recipe for a rainy day.
Proof that words aren't always necessary.

I wonder how many smiles are born today with just those simple things?
You've captured the simple pleasures of life. What a cutie and Benny is so good to let her play too. Dogs just love to drink out of puddles!
Such joy! Beautiful to behold.
Lovely photos of a little girl having fun with a dog.... I bet she told her mother all about it when she got home!
The story makes it even better. Adorable.

What a ray of sunshine these shots are! Marvellous reflections too.
Such sweetness in this post!Thank you. Best regards!
Beautiful and natural photographs. I am greeting
Awww, these reflective photos are brilliant Hilary! At first I thought the top photo of Benny was a photoshop one, but you disproved that with the rest of them. Truly excellent photos. That little girl completes the scene - Dave
delightful from top to bottom
I especially love the shot of the two of them looking as if they're about to walk away, it's touching
sweet girl and wonderful pup
delicious together
This series is utterly precious. I love how Benny appears to follow her every move - what a beautiful pairing, no, words are completely redundant, aren't they? They have their special language all of their own.
Aw! Just too sweet for words. :)
oh my gosh, what breathtakingly precious photos!
oh, hilary, you always have a way of making my day start great!
thank you so much for sharing those adorable photos!

Kids and dogs, both can find fun pretty much anywhere. Great shots.
Haha! How cute! :)
What a lovely sequence of photos. The reflections in the puddles are just amazing.
A puddle shared is a puddle enjoyed. :)
I love Benny! He has a culte little friend, too.
If you ever make a Benny calendar, I'll be your best customer!
Oh my...how sweet! I wondered who that adorable child was until I reached the end of the post. (Benny, of course, is always adorable.) Isn't that just like a child and a dog? A natural connection. Love it.
very cute shots Hilary!
so sweet ... my favorite is the one with both of them gazing into the puddle 'sprinkle with giggles' :)))
thanks for linking the dog days video in the comment section, it's adorable <3
Each shot, so well composed. Lovely pictures.
Moments that will be remembered forever. Pure magic.
A priceless story in photos Hilary.
I love the interaction and all the vivid colors.
You didn't know her! I was thinking how cute she is and how fashionably dressed, and that you were fortunate to have such an adorable person in your life.
Actually, she 'was' in your life, if only long enough to produce these lovely images.
I like the reflections in the water.
Ah, yes. But make no doubt, Hilary. A connection was made.
Spelndid photos as always. Have a nice weekend, my friend! :)
What a perfect vignette! I'm just surprised to see Bennie with all of his feet grounded. Usually he's airborne ;) Your photos prove that words are often unnecessary when sharing a wondrous moment.
So very sweet and tender . Amazing moments captured to keep and share.
I love them. Beautiful. I love the reflections that keep on going.
So well done.
What a couple of cuties! Excellent photographs.
