Benny Haz a Sad and Posts of the Week

On one of our many trips between my place and his, Frank leaned over and nudged me after glancing at his rear view mirror. "Take a look at the long face." I slowly turned back to look at Benny. It was pathetic, I tell you. Just pathetic.

despondent
I haz a sad.

After all these years, he still doesn't get why he has to be crated in the back seat of the car when his people clearly enjoy their uncaged freedom in the front seat. He made his feelings abundantly clear when he broke out into musical whimpers.

Nobuddy knows de trubble I seeeen.

Benny, it's not that bad and really, you have it pretty good.

At least you're comfortable, unlike this guy.

And we're not humiliating you by suspending you in midair.

Wait until you see how we're going to travel with the cats! Thank your lucky stars that's not you.

Remember, Benny - life could be a whole lot worse. It's not like you belong to a certain American politician or anything.

So count your little canine blessings.

One more thing before I move on to the POTW. If you haz a sad or even if you duzen't, I'm sure this short video of this beautiful couple and their impromptu duet will have you smiling and bouncing in your seat.

And now, without further delay, here are the Posts of the Week. The icon below is yours for the taking if if your blog post is named as a POTW.

Sweet, pathetic Benny. And I'm sure he made you sorry for making eye contact. Love the video, too. You're never too old...

Awwwww.... Zeee poor widdle neglected beastie. Clearly, several treats and an ear scritch are the least you could do to make it up to him...

Loved the vid. :)

Awwww Benny, she's right...you're so lucky to be a traveling dog and not a traveling cat!

I had to take my two cats to their regular boarding place this morning before setting off on a month-long trip. Multiply Benny's look by two and then another two for the utterly soul-destroying noises they made during the trip. And I have to repeat this again a couple more times in the next 4 months.

Benny looks pretty well taken care of. I don't think I'll feel sorry for him.

Poor dog! Why don't you just get him a doggy seat belt (yes, they have such things), which would give him a bit more mobility, and. . . .

Nah; he's safest in a well-strapped-down cage. What was I thinking? (I know; I was thinking like a Bear who doesn't like being caged.)

Poor Benny! It made a lovely photo though, even if the sadness was a little catching!

I love Benny's expressive little face. They sure know how to convey their feelings.. and pull our heart strings.
Thanks so much Hilary, for choosing one of my posts to be a POTW!

I'm pouting right back at Benny right now. Gotta love him!

OMG, initially, reading of how the American guy strapped his Irish Setter to the car roof, I visualised the poor hound spread-eagled on his back, roped down - thank God the piece finally mentioned he put him in a carrier first - but still, eeeeeeeeek - I know I shouldn't laugh, 'cos it's not funny.. (really). The cat contraption, likewise, warped but hysterical - as is the doggie suitcase, and the converted baby-carrier - I'm still laughing.

Poor, poor Benny, it's all for his own good - thankfully, I know he never bears a grudge.

Oh my, what a lovely surprise to be given a mention - I'm truly tickled pink, Hilary - thank you sooooo much (dancing off to dust my site down, and put the choccie biscuits out).. I hope your day turns out as special as you've made mine!

I always love seeing Benny, even when he's sad. He's such an adorable dog, I smile just to think of him. I watched the video and smiled, just like you said. :-)

I want to be sad for him because that face really warrants it, but it's hilarious!

Poor Benny - he is treated so well he has no idea he is a dog.

I am still smiling from watching that delightful little video! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you too, Hilary, for the POTW - a delightful surprise.

Most dogs, like Benny, have such expressive and sad looking eyes; they can get a human to do just anything they want them to do.

Some people should have it as good as our pets, but they don't know it.

Thanks for the pics, and the funny links.

I used to take the katz along when going to the cabin. It became too bizzarre listening to them even with the tranks.

Benny is a heart breaker, for sure. I know the feeling well. When I have to take my Rosie to the vet, you would think I am pulling his legs off. Such pitiful, and sometimes angry sounds he can produce. He's totally quiet on the way home, though.

Fun selection .. poor Benny .. life could be so much worse!

I enjoyed that video hugely!!!!

And I am so very glad that you managed to work in the last example of Benny's good fortune!
Poor little Benny . . . he doesn't realize he's so much safer in there!

How can dogs do this to us. My daughter has a schnauzer and Maggie pulls the same stunt. One trip was all the way to Chicago.

Mental P Mama said...

Poor Benny. And, yes, he should count his lucky stars his last name isn't Romney!

Mage said...

They do make seat belt-harnesses, but I know he'd hate that too. Great Bennie shots. Great links too. Thank you.

Oh, Benny is a hoot and I love him to bits.;) If it is any consolation, Sammy hates is crate too. No, *detest with force* is a better description. He has not a sad when he is in it, he has a rage, hihi.;))

Benny!!
Oh you're killin' me Benny, now I haz a sad too
Perhaps I should volunteer to be Ben's travel companion? Do you have a crate large enough for Benny and a full figured woman?

thanks for the POTW
I love when I can make folks laugh

Reena said...

Poor Benny ... so insulted! I've seen that video ... so sweet.

Dawning Inspiration said...

Oh poor Benny - Doogie relates. He used to be seat belted in to a doggie car seat - but he was able to wiggle free. So now he has a soft crate with hard corners that he rides in. He doesn't seem to mind. He jumps in whenever I grab the keys...and then of course the straps are seat-belted in so he stays put!

lime said...

oh that benny really is heartbreaking. he just makes me laugh. that story about the romneys though....holy crap! ridiculous!
