Earlier this month, we spent a week up at the cottage. The weather was better for fishing than for swimming, but the company was good and the atmosphere was lovely as always. Below are a few photos from that week.
Mooring Malfunction: We had a fair bit of rain one windy day, and were surprised by this unusual sight though the front window during the storm. One of the boats pulled free from the dock at one end. Frank's brother-in-law Evan teamed up with Benny to correct the situation. Well, Evan rectified the problem while Benny lunged at and drank every splash of water.
Rain Dance: Later on, the water was high and waves continuously splashed against this fallen tree, creating a steady flow of droplets, which danced for my camera lens.
Line Dance: Towels needed more time to dry.
Cap-sized: No, not the boat. It turned out to be a good day to sit back and enjoy a beer.
A Tall One: Or some other fancier drink. This was Malibu rum with coconut water and pineapple juice.
Blowin' in the Wind: By the end of the day, the wind managed to blow most of the clouds away, leaving just enough to create some pretty colours at sunset.
Back with more photos in a few days. In the meantime, Frank has a few cottage photos to share over at his blog.

Rain can be good...The dancing drops are wonderful.
I love the colors in the Line Dance photo. That rum, coconut and pineapple sounds mighty refreshing!
I like the towels: simple but pleasing.
Hilary, I love how well you capture the rain dance on the fallen tree. Visual poetry :-)
mmmmmmm beautiful sunset :)
The towels and clothespins look like birds. Such wonderful pictures, but I've come to expect to be blown away when I visit here... :-)
Love your raindrops shot.
Hard to tell you werent getting around easily ..
Love the muted rainy shots and colours.
Rain is a good thing, except at the lake, although you managed to make it look pretty good, even there.
always love your captions (and of course the photos)!
beautiful! LOVED seeing the rain! :)
I just love how you caption your fabulous photos. Always a very special treat to visit. Oma Linda
I can't believe you could take a clothesline shot like that and make it extraordinary!
Amazing as usual, Hilary!
I'd take a rainy day up there any time. Lucky the boat decided to stick around instead of drifting out into the lake.
In your last shot, it appears the winds not only blew the clouds away, but the towels too. ;-)
Dancing drops is very special!
Loved these, especially the rain dance. :)
I got caught in a storm tues.I just put on some raingear after waiting what seemed forever. I went through 60 worms in 4 hours today.
gorgeous photos...the rain dance on the fallen tree is just amazing!
You always show us the beauty in the most common of things.
Love all of these, especially the water and towel shots. I miss the smell of clothes that were dried on the line. I used to help my grandmother take them down. Sounds like a relaxing time.
The last one from the end of the day makes me wish I had a camp chair and that beer. Nice photos.
What an EYE you have!!

A great link to Frank's blog. I enjoyed my visit there and will be back.
Creative shot with the water drops off the fallen tree Hilary.
I'll take a look at Frank's blog.
All nifty, but that bottle cap shot is great!
I always love your photos - The water dripping off the dock was my favorite.

Only you can take a miserable weather situation and make it beautiful. And fun;)
hello rain!
i think it's about time.
fall is upon us already!
lovely photos, great composition and perspective!
well done you. :)
betty xx
I love the drops from the tree branch. Stunning sunset too.
DJan said what I was thinking... The clothespins look like the mouths of birds, perhaps waiting to be fed.
Your dancing waters and the line dance are stunning. I love how you take the simplest things and make masterpieces from them.
The way you zoom in on things, and then back out is exquisite. Always nice to be by a lake, rain or shine. ;)
I love the rain, like a tear drops. You have it, the washing is superb.
Love your "rain dance" and especially the sunset. Thanks for sharing them!
Superb captures of rain.
I guess your Canadian summers are very much like ours, definitively rain falls very often. This year it fell however ALL THE TIME, thus made for the second rainiest summer ever. Terrible.:(
Still, your images make rain look appealing.;)
Have a lovely weekend dear Hilary,
xoxo
You and Frank make the place look like heaven.
THESE ARE GREAT. I am not shouting but standing in awe of your work. Sure do feel like I'm at that cottage!
Thanks so much, everyone. So kind of you all to stop by and leave such fine comments. I so appreciate it.
