First of all, an apology about the Posts of the Week. It would seem that I've fallen behind. Again. Therefore, some of the POTW post go back a fair ways. Maybe it will be fun for folks to start getting new comments on their older posts. Yeah, I'm sticking with that and retracting the apology. Never mind!
TexWisGirl has her Whistlers on Wednesday and Gail has her Tri-colored Tuesday. I don't know if I would actually dedicate a day to these beauties but I do have a fair number of photos and so you're going to see a lot of them in the posts to come - at least through the winter. Oh deer!
I know some of you folks see deer quite regularly. Some enjoy them with their cameras - some see them as sport. Considering that I was into my fifties before I had ever seen one in the wild, I am enjoying the heck out of their daily visits, this winter.

Those enormous eyes watch me closely every time I step outside to scatter the food around. Sometimes apples or carrots are added to the menu. And of course bird seed is never turned down.

One of the contractors working on the addition once told me that when you see deer eating from the evergreens, it's going to be a very cold night. So far, he's been right. Then again, it is winter.

The little ones are so adorable. This guy was probably born last spring.

This lovely beast appears to have had a big bite taken out of her ear.
That doesn't stop her and Skitty from curiously watching each other.

I watched for about ten minutes while these two groomed each other in the warm afternoon sun.

When the sun goes down, even more elegant wonders make their way over from the neighbour's place, in hopes of a few late-day handouts.

Now, by the above photo, you might think that we've come to the end of this tale/tail, but I do have one more image for you.

A softly-painted sky, the moon on the rise over the frozen lake and one more beautiful deer to simply make my day.

I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls. They always say because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her.
