Time for a P Break

Today's post was inspired, in part by Sue at Photowannabe.
Hers is one of the first blogs I started following in my early days of posting.

If you've been acquainted with my blog for any period of time, you know that I don't like to participate in memes or to commit to any group blogging endeavors. Of course, this doesn't mean that I don't enjoy seeing what others have to post about when they do.

Every Wednesday, for as long as I've known Sue, she has rotated her way through the alphabet twice a year, posting her lovely photos on ABC Wednesday. She's wending her way toward the end of the alphabet once again but will soon start anew for another 26 weeks. It's always a kick to she how she finds unique ways to use that week's letter to describe what you see in her lovely photography.

Please stop by her place and have a look. There's so much more about Sue to love beyond her photography. She and her husband frequently travel to parts of the world in need, and help restore, build and maintain communities for those far less fortunate than us. This lady is a true gem.

Sue, this one's for you.

bee in purple
These little workers PETRIFY some PEOPLE - understandably so, in some cases. This bee is just too PREOCCUPIED with PROBING the inside of this PASTEL, PURPLE flower.

pretty in pink blossoms
PRETTY in PINK. These blossoms have long PASSED having reached PERFECTION in the PREVIOUS month of May. Still, their PERFUME lingers on - at least in my mind.

mothers day pansies
A POT of PURPLE PANSIES PRESENTED to me by my PENULTIMATE son (otherwise known as my first born) for Mother's Day.

poppy head
A POPPY head (not to be confused with POOPY HEAD), PRIOR to POPPING. It sits in a PATCH amid other PLANTS where I PHOTOGRAPHED it from Frank's back PORCH.

pink peony
Also growing in Frank's back yard - brilliant PINK PEONIES. There had been some recent PRECIPITATION and the droplets did their PART to PRETTIFY the PETALS.

purpe and white
These PRETTY PURPLE and white flowers are wild PHLOX (I PRESUME) and they grow quite PROFUSELY at this time of the year. They're PRESENT alongside the creek and seem to do well in PARTIAL shade.
Edited to add that a lovely lady named Gayle has sent me an email kindly explaining that these flowers are actually called Dame's Rocket - and is also known by many other names (dame’s rocket, damask violet, dame’s violet, dames-wort, dame’s gilliflower, night-scented gilliflower, queen’s gilliflower, rogue’s gilliflower, summer lilac, sweet rocket, mother-of-the-evening and winter gillyflower). Thank you so much, Gayle. I really had no idea and so I presumed incorrectly. I so appreciate you letting me know.

wild phlox2
Here's another PICTURE of PHLOX. This one is not PROTECTED by shade and does just as beautifully as those in the PREVIOUS PHOTO.

pink blossom2
PRECIOUS PINK blossoms PLAYFULLY adorn the bushes in the PARK where I walk most often. They POPPED out long after the other flowering trees were done. Good PLANNING on their PART.

purple bloom
One of my neighbours PLANTS lovely PERENNIALS in her garden and this PRETTY PURPLE allium is among them. You might not be able to see that it is shaped like a globe because I got up close and PERSONAL with its PETALS in this PARTICULAR macro PHOTO.

dead tree sunset
I PREFER this old, dead tree over many in my local PARK. It stands by the POND PROVIDING a PLACE for bugs to exist and for birds to PARTAKE in said bugs. It also PRESENTS itself very nicely against a PURPLE and PINK sky. This tree always allows me to PEEK at it from different angles. It seems to have something new for me to PERCEIVE from its features every time I see it. Can you PERCHANCE PICK out the little smiling face near the top of the tree?

Thanks for allowing me to PLAY with the letter P in this way, and thanks especially to Sue at PHOTOWANNABE for inadvertently PROMPTING this POST.

After A Rain

Hey, you're just on time - we're going out walking. This is our first break in the rain all day. I think we should take advantage of it. You might want to put on rubber boots - it's been raining all day and we're sure to run into some puddles.

new growth pine
Have you ever touched the new growth of pine needles? If you have, then you know that they're incredibly soft - like those squiggly Koosh Balls (Google it and you'll know what I mean). After a few weeks, they'll toughen up and before long, they'll be as brittle and sharp as the rest of the tree. But for a few days, they're quite lovely in their brilliant green rubber-like suits. The rain is over but these needles are still wearing their little caps.

waterdroplets
These post rain water droplets were found on this plant at the front of my neighbour's house. I noticed it on my way home from her place but had to come back with my camera a moment later.

snailbranch
We sure are seeing a lot of these slow-moving fellows, this year. They come out like crazy on these rainy days.

blossomcluster2

These beautiful pink blossoms were heavy with rainwater.

after spring storm3
It had been a rather stormy day but shortly before the day was done, rain ended, clouds parted and the sunlight beamed itself onto our beautiful willow tree which adorns the dock.

leaf bokeh 2
This pretty growth of leaves was glowing in the early evening sun. I snapped a photo and found that the background danced in circles of light known as bokeh.

It's alway fun to have you join me for a walk around my pond. I hope you enjoyed this post-rain walk.
