I've Brought Summer

Hi there! Remember me?

Frank and I have been on a bit of a roller coaster ride while house hunting, these past several weeks. We thought we found our beautiful waterfront home, but the inspection was done last week and it revealed a few surprises that we weren't willing to accept.

So the search continues and so will my infrequent blog visits. Posts of the Week will continue to be on hold for the time being. I apologise for that.

I will try to get a few posts scheduled though, now that I have uploaded, sorted through and readied several dozen photos taken over the end of the summer and throughout September and October.

The following images are from the end of August.

silhouette sunrise
One of the few good things about summer coming to an end and the days getting shorter, is that you don't have to be awake at a ridiculous hour to see a sunrise. Benny and I experienced this one together while on our morning walk.

bee on purple 4
Winged insects seem to be particularly busy when the fall flowers begin to bloom.

bee in purple flower
Let's get up close and personal with this buzzing beauty.

black eyed susans
Another late-summer flower is the black-eyed Susan. There's a lovely patch of them near Frank's place.

blackeyed susan
Why not get up close and personal with this blossom, too? Why not, indeed!

red berries
Berries ripen just in time to greet the migrating birds as they return to, or pass through these parts.

uxbridge berriess
I'm sure that these will attract a few takers. I was tempted by them, myself.

damsel fly2
A tiny damselfly posed nicely for me in the late-day sunlight. Thankfully, it was unaware of Benny's prancing just a few steps away.

And another wee one. The blade of grass might give you some idea of just how little it is.

mooned
There isn't a much nicer way to end the day than with clear skies and a near-full summer moon shining from above.

More coming up soon.

From sunrise to moon rise, perfect photos. The Black-eyed Susan patch really captures the eye. Those damselflies look metallic. Good Luck on your house hunt.

Each of these is excellent. You have a great eye to spot the beauty and the skills to capture them. Thanks for inspiring me to keep on shooting.

I can almost feel the warmth of the summer sunrise in that first photo, and the bright golden Black-eyed Susan flowers were a treat for the eyes. Bees, blooms, and damselflies are always wonder-full when seen through your camera.
Best wishes with the house-hunting. I know what a pain it can be!

you may be busy but you are still finding beauty....love the black eyed susans...and the dragonflies....saw a bunch of those when we were out west this summer...hope the house hunting goes well

Do not panic or worry. Your home will be found. It may not be this year...so DON'T rush into anything. It is a major move and it has to fit a substantial percentage of your needs and desires. Yes, there is always compromise, but listen to your gut! Glad you still remember us!

Some great macro photos especially love those damselfly photos. They were plentiful around here. I guess it was because of the warm winter. Good luck with the house hunting!

I sure hope you and Frank can find a place soon. We miss you both. I loved the black-eyed susans in this post, as well as the red berries. Of course, the damselflies were pretty spectacular, too. :)

How in the heck did you even see that little bug? Beautiful! I really miss the early morning sunrise because that's when I'm driving to work and now it's totally dark out...so sad. I also hate the early sunset..more than sad! But I do love the cooler weather and fall leaves..which are almost gone...sad again. Good luck on your house hunt. You'll find the perfect spot I'm sure!

Always nice to see your posts again. Seeing some late summer stuff is alright just now as we are having a nasty dump of snow.

Damn it, Hilary, I still want to buy a book of your photography. Someday, please, put something together and... well, I have no idea how one goes about selling a book of photography; whether it's similar to shopping around writing? But you're truly gifted. Your photos are magnificent, your artistic sense sublime. I would personally snap up five or six copies as gifts.

Oh, well. Maybe not this Christmas, eh? Good luck on the continuing hunt for habitation!

The sunrises are getting later, but the mornings are also less pleasant, so I am getting out less. Of course, with the sun getting lower, more of the day is shootable.

Thank you for the summer images dear Hilary, we are on the brink of winter here.;) So it is nice to sense summer again, particularly as there was really none this year.
P and I are also house hunting, as you.;) We have found two homes and are negotiating the prices - lets see which one it will be.;) Good luck with finding your dream house.
Have a great weekend,
xoxo

The wonderful reason for your search is that you and Frank will be together in the new house. I am so happy for you that you are happy.

House inspectors can be a blessing to save you years of misery, as in "Why didn't we think to hire an inspector about the foundation", as an example. Good work. The right house is still ahead! :)
