BOO-barians!

With Sandy making her way northward, we're having high winds with a promise of even stronger gusts through the night and tomorrow. The power flickers slightly every now and then, so I thought I'd get this post done while I'm able. (Just as I typed this, the power and therefore the computer shut down for a moment).

I hope every one of you on the eastern of the U.S and Canada are staying dry, warm and safe. Please check in when you can

The following photos were snapped last Hallowe'en.

pumpkins
Pumpkins were waiting patiently for their night to shine.

halloween rat
Do you suppose this could be a pumpkin pie-rat?

Peter Pan was traveling the streets of Never Never Land.

Tinkerlily
As was TinkerLily.

barbarian

family
Then there was my son, Alex the barbarian, his savage girlfriend, Veronica and their misfit love child, Short Straw. They made their own costumes - Alex and Veronica, that is. There was thread, fur, lacing and leather bits all over the place during the process but I think they did a great job.

I hope you have a wonderful spook night ! You're all such a treat to know.

Great costumes! Your son doesn't look a bit like you, does he? lol I never saw someone look so much like their parent, except for my own hubby and his mom. He got his looks from his mom, too.

I'm right there with you praying for all on the east coast!

If A&V ever need to earn some extra cash, I think they could make and sell Halloween costumes! They did a fabulous job!
You even make a pie-rat look good ;)
And of course the kidlets are adorable.

The worst I had heard last night from friends in Northern Virginia was power outages and water pouring in via leaks. One friend had measured 5 inches of rain in 24 hours.

Stay dry and warm!

Ya gotta love Peter Pan, Tinkerlily, and Short Straw. Alex and Veronica did indeed do a good job on their costumes. Alex apparently gets his creativity from his mom.

Great costumes, and such wonderful photos, Hilary.
They truly make me smile.
I hope the winds are not too bad, and pass by you quickly.

Those are the cutest barbarians I've ever seen. :) Hope you stay out of Sandy's reach. Thinking of you and everyone affected...

Boo to you, too! Wonderful costumes :) Tomorrow the boos and ghouls will be prowling the neighbourhood once again looking for treats. :)

I do love Halloween! Thankfully we had trick or treat last week...our town always has it the Thursday before Halloween..so this nasty hurricane rain and wind won't hurt our kiddos at all. Love your son's costume!..hey, I have the same short straw in my yard! (long lost twin?) Hope you can keep the electric going during this crazy weather! Happy Halloween!

Nice kiss, all dressed up.

Looks like Halloween in your area is a big deal! It's not a big issue here. I think people in your son's age group have some costume parties.
I hope that Sandy was not too hard on you.

Let's hear it for those Barbarian haberdashers! Great costumes. And warm, too.

I hope Sandy is kind to you. She's doing a number on our neighbors though we've gotten by with a few flickers of the light. Take care!

Love the barbarian costumes! Very creative. And I want a horn flask. That is way too cool.

Hope you still have your power on!

Not sure what this day will be like. My son's school is still closed. I'm going to try to make it into work. Guess I will see as we go.

They make a great couple. Looks like they have a good time together.

For me, today means starting to take down the decorations for October and get things ready for the November decorations at the senior center. I did manage to enlist some aid, a gal friend says she will help me the next two months and see how it works for her to give up that time. She knows how much it would help so she is being a sweetheart.

fun and wonderful post
are you ok from the storm? I hope so. sending light ~

Hilary said...

Yes thanks, Tammie Lee and everyone else .. we were fine. Strong winds, a few downed trees where we walk Benny and the creek was running swift and high but nothing serious. I hope everyone else can say the same.

Enjoy spook night!

Happy Halloween to you too Hilary. Love your photos and hope the winds aren't too fierce for you and that the power stayed on. Many of my East Coast friends are without power.
Here on the West Coast it's trying hard to rain. Hopefully it will hold off till late night and then get it out of it's system. Its suppose to get warm again by the weekend.
Hope you find your new home soon.

Cute photos, especially the barbarians!! Hope you didn't get much from Sandy besides those flickers!

Maggie May said...

Beautiful pictures........ all of them.
Hope Sandy didn't cause a big problem for you and I hope Halloween went well.
We were appalled to see the problems with Sandy on the TV and the vast expanse it covered.
