Fair of Face

We have a number of small children on our street - some of whom you saw recently, playing with water and that crazy little dog named Benny. Below are a few photos of one of these girls. Her name is Lynzie and she came by to visit one day. I just couldn't stop snapping photos of her beautiful, little face as she watched Benny scamper about.

She's only two and a half but has advanced command of the English language, speaking in full, intelligent and sophisticated sentences. Needless to say, she is very charming. She also displays a multitude of expressions on her lovely, little face. I culled my dozens of photos down to the ones you'll see below. I feel fairly certain that once you see her, you'll fall in love with her, too. I hope you enjoy these portraits of Lynzie and the quotes which accompany them.

There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million. ~ Walt Streightiff

Lindsay18
Children are remarkable for their intelligence and ardor, for their curiosity, their intolerance of shams, the clarity and ruthlessness of their vision. ~ Aldous Huxley

Lindsay19
Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be. ~ Shel Silverstein

Pretty much all the honest truth-telling there is in the world is done by children.

The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives. ~ Albert Einstein

This was a scheduled post. I'm still away from home for a day or so. We're probably in transit somewhere between the cottage, Frank's place and my own. I hope to catch up with all of your fine blogs before too long.

Children are very hard to photograph but your images prove that it not impossible - as you make it look so easy. You captured and immortalized her very soul...

She is lovely and what an amazing colour her hair is.

You seemed to have a good source of natural light for those photos, and for many the background seems studio-like, without distractions. Even when it wasn't so quiet, it wasn't busy and it was splendidly out of focus.

She's VERY cute. I can almost hear her squeaky little voice. :-)

That's one beautiful little face to accompany some excellent quotes. I could almost hear the intellectual conversation!

She is adorable! The ones with her tongue out are so cute-made me smile.

Very cute. Children's faces are so expressive. They haven't learned yet to hide their thoughts and emotions. My daughter was like that, at about that age, talking with full sentences using 4 and 5 syllable words. She learned to read when she was 4 or so and is still a voracious reader.

Hilary, had I been fortunate enough to have you for a neighbour when my children were this young, I would have found reason to send each one over in rotation every day, to visit with you.. oh, how I mourn the loss of those could-have-been portraits!

These are captures any mother would cherish.
