Drive-by Shooting
It's been a while since I posted a series of drive-by shooting - images snapped through the window from the passenger seat of the car. I guess it's time to remedy that right now.
Lovely rolling hills and a glimpse of a barn and silo made for a quick decision to snap a shot.
I spotted this powder blue car for sale after we turned a corner, on our drive through a small town on our way to the cottage. Note the license plate "2CUTE4U."

This guy is busy transporting round bales of hay.
I caught this group peering over the railing to take a look at the water below, and probably at the folks fishing it.
Another pretty sight which caught my eye. A couple of red, barn-like sheds or bunkies on a pretty treed lot with lovely wildflowers.

I'm inspired by the shots you got in the shotgun seat ~ I rarely do this but want to have my camera ready now that I've seen such great possibility, but I have to remember it's always who is behind the camera that creates the great shots. My two favorites are the first one and the people all in hats on the bridge :))

Thanks for the ride and the sights. My favourite is the first shot. I'm a sucker for endless skies and vast fields with a lone building or tree sticking up in the middle. Maybe because I grew up in an area bordered by mountains and sea.

Love the rural theme however it is captured. The old car is very fitting too; rural life is often a throw back to yesteryear.
I'd like to try that drive-by shooting some time, except I'm always the one driving. I loved that top one with the top of the barn and silo and of course the 2cute4u car, but I am a man.

You oh so casually post these wonderful pictures for your readers to devour. Drive by indeed. If I could find something like them here I would post them. There are hundreds of barns and silos and a guy in our town who lives on the edge of town brings the rolls of hay down our street one roll at a time on his tractor. Very nice photos, so peaceful and I can relate to all of these.
Just love seeing your area of the world. The barn shots are my favorite.

This kind of photography is no small task. These are great shots.
Drive-by shooting is tricky, but you seem to have mastered the trick. That first one with the green field and the barn and silo beyond is very pretty. And I love that you snapped a picture of that car. I'm glad you pointed out the license plate. I would have missed that.

I love these! I have some of my own I need to post. Not as good as yours, though!
When I was growing up we had a nearby barn with the hand painted sign "Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco" in large yellow letters. Your barn photo brought back that memory.

The red barn could fit with ease in Sweden which is renowned for its red and white cottages.;))

Any time I see a barn and silo, I feel almost as thought they were calling to me. I think I should have been a farmer (or maybe I was a cow in a previous life and I'm just longing for home.)

Yes, it's always best for the driver to keep his/her eyes on the road and let the passenger do the snapping. If you're driving alone, and can't stop, just be happy with the mental snapshot.
The only trick to getting a not too blurry shot, is to photograph subjects at a distance (a nearby barn doesn't work too well) and to set your shutter speed to at least 250, so you need a reasonably bright day or fast lens.
If you're using a point and shoot, try putting it on the action/sports setting.

How I've missed these, and you, this summer. I won't be back on track 'til next week, but I'm trying to catch up a bit this week if that's at all possible. Not really, but you know what I mean.
And, after a long absence, my selection for you is Country Comfort, an Elton John tune,but the Clancy Brothers did a wonderful cover of it on the sadly out of print Save The Land. I have a vinyl transfer cd, fortunately. I'll try and get that to you.

I really love barns but most of the time I can't get a decent photo of them.
Sorry I haven't been by for a while. It seems my brain has needed a vacation and the blogging suffered because of that.
